Spurs to play at MK Dons?
Quite a fascinating gambit of news today and yesterday and none more so than the rumour that our 60,000 seater Mega-Lane is to go ahead while the Spurs continue to play at WHL. It should be done by 2011/12 - which probably translates to 2013 - and as Wilson correctly pointed out yesterday it will mean a one-year migration to the new MK Dons 30,000 seater stadium which should just about squeeze in the season ticket holders, the players wives and not too much else. I should imagine the away players will have to change in the car park.
For your info, the MK Dons stadium is located here. It’s a bit of a mission but it’s on the train from Euston and you can even park there for a fiver on matchday. Noe obviously none of this is official and it all rather stems from a bloke who knows a bloke but the story centres around a company director inquiring after a box at the Lane who was told the utlimate plan. Seems to make sense.
So, caution given, that sounds ok by The Bagel. Not exactly super convenient but very sensible. Doubtless the rent is minimal compared to Wembley and Upton Park, we wont have to give money to our rivals or sit in their scummy Magic Kingdom stadium and much of the Yiddo catchement area is towards that part of the country anyway. Better still, LB has just made the mistake of getting me and my 6 points insured on her car, so yes, I can deal with that in return for a nice big Lane just where the old one used to be.
That’s the good news. The big business is that now the Guvnor has taken over at Slackburn he intends to sinck his very stubborn and mouthy claws into his star players. Rats. He said:
“I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into it and I want to keep my best players, David Bentley and Santa Cruz among them.”
“We don’t start (pre-season) until July 7 so I’ll speak to those two players and to the rest of them and take it from there.”
Now, that’s by no means definitive talk and even Paul Ince isn’t going to be stupid enough to ruin moral at a club where he’s only just started. I still sense that both of those players - Bentley particularly - have got their hearts set on moves away and as respected as the former United field marshal may be, somehow I doubt he has the glitz, charisma and intelligence enough to silence that doubt in David’s mind. However, I know a man who does. This one just got tricky but it’s not over yet.
One that has probably bitten the dust is the deal for David “The Kid” Villa, despite my premature Twitter. The Valencia chairman is confident he can persuade the striker to play and even if he can’t I lose faith every second that Villa himself has any intention of coming to England, let alone Tottenham. So, enough of that one until I wake up to a headline or Twitter from the blue.
At the same time, Lyon striker Dave has basically said the same, making up some poor excuses about defenders rather than mentioning what’s really on his mind - the weather and the food. He said:
“Lyon have proposed me a contract extension - I’m studying it.”
“I really would like to play in Spain. The defenders give you more space there and the football that is played resembles what is like in Brazil.”
Even if he does mean that, isn’t he just saying “Actually, I’m not that good and I need to play where no one can be bothered to mark me”? In which case, I wish him the best as we continue our search for a player that’s actually worthy of filling the shoes of the Beautiful Bulgarian.
Dimi himself has been given a “mid-July” deadline by which time he must formally make up his mind and give an answer to Levy & Co. about his future. Nice an vague that one - mid-July. Obviously he’s waiting for the transfer merry-go-round to settle, as is the rest of the footballing world, and one can’t help but feel that we’re all waiting for United and Real to sort out the Ronaldo business before other players can start moving. Tedious.
Robbo seems to have a fan in Martin O’Neill who by all reports wants to bring back the sparkle to the eyes of England’s true No.1 with a £5m move to Villa. Something about that one feels right for all parties, save us as we watch Robbo’s career come to life again in a season or two to come. I was wisfully thinking about his pin-point distribution on the train this morning and how The Bagel shall miss his Aaron Lennon specials every time I see Gomes’s looping throws. Come to think of it I’ll probably miss Little Aaron too.
The worst news of all is that Boutros Boutros Ghaly has managed to injure himself while on international duty with Egypt. He’s bust his kness ligaments which is long, painful and difficult one to recover from adn pretty much rules out anyone buying him until Xmas. Can’t we just shoot him like a lame horse? We’d probably get more money for the glue.
Speaking of which, we should probably do the same to Younes Richards. Saggy Face Redknapp has practically coughed up a lung at our asking price of £6m which isn’t too far off the mark if you ask me. Redpapp probably had £3m and a 1986 Ford Cortina in mind and I’d sooner see us put the 22-year-old Frenchman into our steak and kidney pies for profit rather than hand our rivals a bargain. I’m sure there’s a suitable cockney expression for it and whatever it is can be stuffed up Harry’s bottom with whatever other faux reactions he’d care to make.
I don’t know. I’m getting really frustrated with all this public bargaining. Can’t they just keep it to the small, dark negotiating rooms rather than insult every fan in the game. I hate to think how the United mob must feel. Then again, they’re long overdue some pain.
She’s a 10, Jimmy. She’s a bagel unto herself. She can’t nurse worth shit, but I keep her on, because even though I can’t feel it, I know I get erections in her presence.

Great movie quote, Bagel. I think that is Christopher Walken’s best role ever as the quadraplegic mob boss.
I agree with you - I am not sure that any of the keepers linked with us are going to be head and shoulders above Robbo. You make a good point that he is probabaly one of the best passing keepers in the Prem. He can jump-start the counter-attack with his length-of-the-field kicks.
I know he has been off, and Juande is obviously done with him. I am just not sure we are not going to miss him.
June 25th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Funny enough those robbo hoofs irritate me. I seen the look on berbas face when he launches them long balls he i dont think he likes it.but then again we do score alot from them so who am i to complain?
June 25th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
Yeah it’s really frustrating if the ball ends up with the other team after a big hoof upfield, especially when we have just squandered a lead against one of the many teams I really hate and we have just minutes to try to salvage a point, and that has happened too many times.
We do get goals from them but hopefully the ’super creative’ Juande midfield can compensate for that.

this website lyes and i wont be reading it agian all that comes out of it is rubbish bentley a done deal diarra a done deal what a load of rubbish and i dont know why people even read this c-r-a-p
June 25th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Well Ike, like all footy sites during transfer season, I am liable to be led astray but I do my best to keep on the straight and narrow and I do seriously doubt I said that those signings were done deals. There is a difference between saying that offers have been accepted and that transfers have been made.
I may very often say that deals are “virtually done” but I don’t usually claim players are in the bag unless they are.
However, if you don’t enjoy what I write then by all means go elsewhere. Fortunately not everyone agrees with you.

No worries Ike,
Harry’s an interesting chap. Don’t know him personally but he tends to have the odd bit of good inside knowledge every now and then but whether this latest story is one of them is another question.
Always worth being abreast of the rumours just as long as you don’t take them as gospel. The Bagel’s rule of thumb is that if it’s in the Mail, it’s a good lead; the Mirror, probably true; BBC and Sky, put your mortgage on it; Spurs official site, gospel.

As long as we stay in Tottenham i’ll be happy.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
I’m quite excited about this MK thing. 20 mins door to door for me - might be seeing a bit more of you that season Bagel
June 26th, 2008 at 8:29 am
Not sure where the Grauniad lies on your truth scale, Bagel. According to them, we have offered £7mil plus little Aaron for Bentley:
http://tinyurl.com/62oywr
May be tempting for them, now that Rovers are without Jack Walker’s estate money…
And according to the Times - http://tinyurl.com/5qwuzd - Gomes is proving hard to get…
June 26th, 2008 at 9:18 am
MK Dons eh? My local team! Been there a few times when i go back home and the stadiums actually pretty damn nice so think you lot should enjoy yourselves for a season there. Never know, might see you there too!
Transfers: Heard rumours today that you lot are in for our Crouchie and Benayoun for a combined fee of 15mill. Cant see it happening tho, if we’re being held to ransom for 16+mill for Barry then i cant understand why Crouch should be going for any less. Think they’d both do well for you tho…
June 26th, 2008 at 9:45 am
i bloody hope were not going for crouch!
June 26th, 2008 at 10:32 am

DOS SANTOS HOPES TO GROW WITH SPURS
New Tottenham signing Giovani dos Santos is adjusting well to life in London
and insists his time in England will help him develop as a player.
The 19-year-old Mexico international, who signed from Barcelona on June 10,
revealed he was motivated by the challenge of playing in the Premier League and
was keen to see more first-team action than he did during his time in Spain.
“The people here 1/8at Tottenham 3/8 have been very welcoming,” Dos Santos told
Barcelona’s official website, http://www.fcbarcelona.cat.
“It is a club with a lot of history and the passion that surrounds football in
England has always caught my eye. It’s highly motivating.
“For me, it’s a new challenge. I’ve come to England to make the best of all my
qualities.
“I’ve come here from a big club, I want to play plenty of minutes and give the
fans plenty of joy. It’ll be good to grow as a player.”
June 26th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Redwrongun,
Crouch is worth nothing cos he can sign a pre contract deal in 6 months - holding out for bundles of cash isn’t gonna work.
These rumours of the hoofers from anfield signing villa etc are gash, even my granny knows you have absolutely no money, the £20M transfer kitty has already been hit with the £18m you had to pay for machereno.
That leaves maybe £10m for Alonso, added to the £4m for Riise and £1M for pennant, adding that up doesn’t even give you enough for barry.
Unless you sell torres, which seems likely.
June 26th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Oi Oi, your post made my day with it’s complete ineptitude and staggering stupidity. I should probably expect this kind of idiocy from an Arse-nal supporter but still, thank you.
Rumours are rumours, just like the one that Arse-ne is interested in Crouch cos Adebayour is jumping ship along with the rest of the rats that infest the shit-shop that is the Arse. I’d love Villa to come to Anfield but no-one has even said that we’ve enquired about him let alone put in an offer.
How in the world do you know we have no money? We’re just about to sign Dossena with what must be Monopoly money according to your ill-informed rant.
Torres is going no where, he doesnt want to go anywhere else so why would we sell him? 10m for Alonso? A deal has been agreed for over 15 mill all it depends on is whether we can capture Barry or not, personally I dont see the point as I prefer Alonso over Barry but ‘In Rafa we Trust’ ™
Stick to the arse, it seems to be what you talk out of most of the time.

June 26th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
and the gospel sayeth, gomes deal reached
June 26th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Yeah, they put it on the site, meaning he has agreed to terms but hasn’t literally signed on the dotted line. Lmao the toon army have invaded, shame they wont be invading Europe next season, eh?
June 27th, 2008 at 2:13 am
Why are the geordies on the site now? The only things that the toon army invades are teams with players on the downslope of their career that want to be paid exceedingly well. Enjoy the the cold, Enjoy the Tyne, and enjoy that your fiercest rival is sunderland…. Big club indeed
June 27th, 2008 at 2:50 am
So Gomes it is then… hmmm…
June 27th, 2008 at 10:27 am
Ike
No need to apologise about the spelling mistake.
By the way, it should be a capital B for Bentley as is the case with most names.
And just to clear up a misconception on your part, I never claimed that Bentley was joing, and nor did Bagel. I really couldn’t give a toss if he does or doesn’t. Whoever joins or leaves it makes no difference, at the end of it all I will always be a YID and will love Tottenham Hotspur until I’m dead! Just like you I suppose?
YIDS!
June 27th, 2008 at 11:15 am
There’s no way we’d sign Crouch being that’s he’s ex 6pud and generally rubbish.
Funny how you haven’t taken the (apparently) £15M for Alonso, possibly because Juve only offered 12M euros !
June 27th, 2008 at 11:40 am
Its officially on the spurs site about Gomes now. Although he hasnt agreed personal terms, passed a medical or got a work permit.
June 27th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
It will seem very strange without Robbo. He has been a loyal servant to the club and on the whole has done us proud. I’m sure he will get a warm welcome when he returns.
Good luck to him!
June 27th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
That Gomes fella is past it - apparently his knees are as good as ledleys and he has mild myopia.
Shame that a keeper as good as he was should become even more rubbish by pulling on that stupid “chicken on a basketball” franchise logo.
June 27th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
Hilarious. That is rich coming from someone who watches his footy at the “Emirates Stadium”.
For your info Gomes is 27 so hardly past it but then you used to cheer on Lehman so I’m not sure how you are in any way qualified to comment on the abilities of a goalkeeper?
June 27th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Simple, I just look at the logo on his shirt !

Being an ex Spurs player hasn’t put the arse off signing ex Yids in the past.
So, once again little oui oui is left looking stupid, forelorn & on his own in the naughty corner of the emerates creche… But keep up the good work as it keeps us mildly entertained… “Gomes passed it” “chortle” after lehman that’s a pearl of wisdom “HA HA HA”

June 27th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
I don’t really have enough time for a proper post, there’s not exactly a truck load of news given that it’s all about us singing the Octopus and I’d hate to interrupt what has become a very interesting chat, so I’ll keep what I have to say just here.
Firstly, I’m 100% that Gomes will be a Yiddo given that it’s on the official site but to say he’s signed subject to a medical, a work permit and agreeing personal terms are actually three very big things. At least we’ll get to know just how good his knees are, Oi Oi.
As far as the Crouch and Benayoun deal for £15m goes, it doesn’t thrill me but in a way it’s not too bad. Neither would be for the first team as but as squad players both are good. Still rather save the cash for superstars but I won’t cry should it happen, which incidentally, I don’t think it will. As it goes, I think there’s nothing in it but the mixing up of a couple of old musings.
My favourite piece of journalism of the day is a story on Vital Football which says, and I quote, “19 year Tomas Pekhart will be one of the best players in the world according to the Tottenham finance director.”
Bloody hilarious. Exactly what would the finance director at Spurs know about that? Big on Championship Manager is he.
It’s going to be interesting to see what we get out of the psychopathic centre forward this season. Now is his chance and glas to hear he’#s still only 19.
Last of all, I had a dream I was teaching Chris Gunter to play table tennis in the Swan on the High Road last night. No idea what that’s all about. He was very moody but very talented. Seemed to be getting into his forehand smashes.
The Bagel.
June 27th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
That’s not all thats wrong with gomes:
He’s got lazy eye as well you can never tell if he’s looking at you or eyeing up the barmaid.
His elbows are double jointed and when he gets stressed during matches he’ll push the ball into his own net.
Being a tetraphobia he can never play in same team as zokora, but his ligyrophobia shouldn’t be too affected at WHS.
He generally loses concentration during matches, reminescent of a young David James/PS2 mixture.
His only saving grace was being on the winning side when a boring tin pot european-type cup game went to penalties last season.
June 27th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Lazy eyes? Something he has in common with Almunia then.
June 27th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Bye bye Robbo…..
June 27th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Arsenal were in for Gomes a while back. He’s better than Almunia or Lukasz ‘5 goals’ Fabianski. In short, Arsenal and Oi Oi are shitheaps.

A person can suffer from Tetraphobia, but a sufferer is known as a Tetraphobe, you muppet
So where do you get the hot “news” that Gomes has a fear of the number 4?
Furthermore, if he suffers from Ligyrophobia (otherwise known as Phonophobia) that would explain why the arse were interested in him as it’s as quiet in the effemerates as it was in the library. So that explains why he’s signed for Spurs as he clearly does not suffer from a fear of loud noises
You really have done yourself an injustice, I expected a better quality drivvle from you, not pure shite like that

I am happy we got a veteran keeper instead of someone like Hart - I think if we are to be a Champion’s League team, we need a few more veterans and the keeper position is one where youth is not always the best option.
I just think we still need a bit more muscle to break up the opponent;s attack. We have scoring flair - especially if we can keep Berba - but we need to strengthen our defense still.

I second that toby. Rafa fuck off go stick your crouch up your ass.
June 29th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
I wonder if Keane would be at all tempted by Champion’s League football. I have to think he’s Yiddo through and through.
If Keane would leave, that would be almost as bad as losing Campbell to the Arse.
I would never forgive Levy if that were to transpire. I just cannot see it happening. Rafa should waste his time elsewhere trying to get another Spanish player who is all flair and no substance.
I think Rafa fears us pushing him out of the fourth slot next year. Why does he still have a job anyway?
June 29th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Also, I know he may be surplus with Giovanni and the possible incoming of Bentley, but I would like to see Steed stay as well. He really has shown a lot of versatility and flashes of brilliance at times. I would be a tad disappointed if he left.
June 29th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Mitch,i agree. We need players like steed in the squad.he was one of our better players last season.
June 30th, 2008 at 9:22 am
Bit harsh on Rafa mitch?! It’s only a rumour (see my response to Oi OI on that) not that i dont rate Keane - to an extent - but this story has popped out of nowhere and I dont really think for one minute that it’ll happen.
“Rafa should waste his time elsewhere trying to get another Spanish player who is all flair and no substance. ” - Torres? Alonso? Reina? Arbeloa? Garcia? - No substance eh?
“Why does he still have a job anyway?” - because we keep faith with our managers and give them time to make the club successful. 2 Champions League Finals and 1 Cup, an FA Cup as well isnt too bad dont you think? The Premiership is the one we want but he’s still got a cpl of seasons good grace before the shit begins to hit the fan…
June 30th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
From the BBC’s transfer rumours page:
New Tottenham signing Giovani Dos Santos, 19, has revealed he turned down Manchester United, Chelsea and Ajax to sign at White Hart Lane from Barcelona. “I also had good offers [from them], but I loved Juande Ramos’s ideas. I am going to do great things with the Spurs,” he said. (Setanta Sports, 1110)
Yiddo! Yiddo!

You say that Rafa has a couple of years good grace before the need to win the PL ?
Not by these stats he doesn’t :
Liverpool - 18 titles
Man Utd - 17 titles
July 1st, 2008 at 1:34 pm
G,
Didn’t he also used to support 6puds as a youth ?
Doesn’t the fact that every signing for every club says the same thing whenever they sign make you kinda wonder “Are the telling porkies?”
