Agree dude. The Europa league is such a waste of time in my opinion. You have to play half a season's worth of games to win it and even then you don't get the holy grail - CL qualification. Why oh why did UEFA not bring in such a rule to revive this dying competition? No one really takes it that seriously anymore do they?
It's all about the CL unfortuantely and that is where we need to be.

Re-build in the summer and get the mentality of the players right. Any slouchers can fuck off. I'm talking about Bent & Bentley mainly, but Huddlestone is moving closer to that list and for all his faults, I do think Jenas wants to do well at least. He just needs to be coached to be more positive and attacking than he is. Let Wilson do the tackling and mopping up and then JJ can play more advanced or make more forward runs (a la Aston Villa).

Thanks yotn. Pity about the result but it doesnt feel so bad knowing we at least put a good performance in. Yes we should of got the second and still think we need a quality striker for next season. Im feeling confident on beating the spammers but i think they about due a victory sometime soon. I guess europe is out of reach now but that might actually turn out to be a good thing.

I thought for 80 minutes we looked as solid, snappy and committed in terms of closing the opposition down as we have done in a long long long time. Jenas included. I think we should stick with him.

Its unfortunate we caved in after the sending off, and its unfortunate that Gomes followed up a wondersave with another flap at a corner. I keep changing my mind about him. I really like him, I want him to succeed but how many opportunities do you give him before we accept we can't carry a Brazilian David James (circa early 2000s)? Its also unfortunate we didn't kill the game off when we should have done.

But overall, I thought it was a heartening performance from a team that looks like its adapting to its new, more settled, shape, and it came just at the right time for a defeat to not be as painful as it might have been just a month ago. Still painful though!

Glory,

He did. I mean with all the speculation surrounding him - some of which is in today's papers - is it time to cash in? His performances have been patchy (OK, this season has been a bit of a disaster for all, nearly all)

Continuing my gloomy view, I'm sorry, but I can't see a win coming against the Irons.

Bent really needs to go. We have Bentley, who in theory, should be as good/better than Lennon - Should he go aswell??

Toby, are you kidding? I thought JJ had a decent game.
Bent & Lennon had far worse games.

In any case, we were robbed. 50% due to dodgy ref, 50% due to not finishing them off when we had the chances.

A good win against the Spammers next week and this will all be forgotten though.

We played some really nice stuff yesterday, so although the result is disappointing, there are good signs for next season.

Dude & HY

I may be oop north but I'm a boy from the south as is my son Mini Yid & you know what the say... You can take the boy out of the south but you can't take the south out of the boy

However, as regards a match report, well I'm feeling pretty gutted after the game, so how about a brief resume?

The morning started at 6:05 when my clock radio very kindly reminded me that I had a small mountain of paperwork on my desk that, if left any longer was to gain EU status... Perhaps I should've left it, I may have been entitled to a grant or something. Paperwork started at 7:05 following something resembling coffee from the vending machine. I found it hard to concentrate, my mind constantly wondered on to the really important stuff of the weekend... The Game... I stole myself away to the present task "Get the bloody paperwork done, get home, quick breakfast lovingly prepared by Mrs YOTN washed down with a large cup of rosie, shout Mini Yid & set off for the hour drive to slackburn" I concentrated so much that my head hurt, but the paperwork was completed by 9:00 I set off for home, only to realise halfway home that I had to collect a parcel from the post office for my beloved Mrs YOTN so I put my foot down a bit... a lot actually. I ran in the sorting office only to meet a small queue of 1... I was short on time & patience. The bloke behind the counter was very much of the jobs worth fraternity & did his best to be as slow as possible. I collected the parcel very much in the manner of a runner in a relay race. back home, Mrs YOTN asks me to pop to the bookies to put on bets for her & Mini Yid for the national... Aaaarrrgggghhh, can't you pop in & do it? I asked her as calmly as I could muster. I've never been in the bookies in my life & wouldn't know what to do & besides, it's a man's thing. I'll get your breakfast on while you're in the bookies. I drove to the bookies, parked in the nearest available piece of road to the bookies (double yellow), only to see a parking warden entering my car's reg in his hand held instrument of torture. He must have had a good servicing from his wife last night because he told me I was in luck by returning before he had pressed the "enter" key. I returned home, ate my marvelous breakfast, gulped down my cup of rosie. "Mini Yid, if you're not ready now i'm going without you" He was in the car already!

Drove at a rate that was probably legal in certain countries, parked up, made our way to the ground

We found our seats, top row of the lower tier, some short geezer was making good use of the metal advertising hording behind us to keep the beat of all of the main songs of the day. Robbo got a good welcome from the Spurs faithfull, which was good to see. Spurs started brightly & continued in the same domiating path for nearly all the game. "We've got Ledley at the back" was ringing around the stand, helped by the short geezer only 4 seats away. We pushed, we dominated. Some slick, fast, attractive passing was occasionly let down with a stray one, but we were still very much on top. But it was Morten gamst formerly of the 80's pop group Aha, that caused the first real threat on goal, slinging in a lng cross for Diouf, but he headed wide. Despite this slackburn were lookinf hurried & pressured, whereas Spurs were more relaxed, but with a sense of purpose. Later, Robbo made a marvelous reflex save from close range to deny Bent. Referee Paul Walton awarded Spurs a questionable penalty after Little Aaron's cross made contact with Givet's arm. Keano stepped up... Ball in net... We all went mental... End of

the slackers nearly drew even with Diouf, but he only managed to send the ball sailing over the bar. Spurs never finished off the slackers with a second goal, Keano didn't seem to be on his absolute top form, though as usual you couldn't fault his work rate. This came to bite us firmly on the arse, when ref Walton double yellowed Palacios for a very questionalbe offence, I thought it was an ok challenge as did all around me not to mention the 2victim" David Dunn, who walked to Wilson & shook his hand, poor Wilson walked. Less than 2 minutes later we were pegged back courtesy of McCarthy, looking like what was left of the game was to play out for an anoying draw. Spurs were still causing problems despite the disproportionate numbers. But with just a minute left of normal time, a poorly dealt with corner resulted in a second goal for the home side.

The journey home was a quiet one. I'm sorry for the hap hazard match report, but I'm gutted, shocking refereeing, but we should've & could've put the game out of reach.
