In the Mix

Yes, I still think we are, rather than in the soup? The transfer window or Christmas sales period is nearly over and, as things stand, we have Cudicini (Gomes looked a better bet yesterday?), Defoe (currently crocked), Chimbonda (good attacking play) and Palacios (‘Crystal’, who also looked sharp). Is that it? Not long to wait now. As for Benitez, he can shut up since he doesn’t seem to want Keane?

I think the squad looks better than at the start of the season and we’re in the pack.

So, the last 8 league games have yielded 6 points – not enough! The first 8, 2 points and the next 8, 16! Consistent, we’re not. We’ve won 6, drawn 6 and lost 12. It won’t be easy to climb clear but we really will need to work our socks off to the end. Our strikers have scored a few, our midfield not enough and our defence must tighten up.

I guess we want 16 points from the last 14 games – more would be nice, plus the Carling Cup for Europe next season? Here’s hoping. We’ve got everything crossed – even hot buns!

Well, my musings proved true - Keano back at the Lane… Everyone happy with that one?

Sadly, Jenas to Milan, with Ricardo Quaresma going the only way simply can’t happen in the time left - t’was all agreed apparently.

Oh, and Jonny two saints didn’t go to Pompy, cos he wasn’t match fit - Lazy fucker.

2. cosmo Says:

Yeh i’m happy he’s back, Did’nt look right in a scouse shirt anyway. Rafa’s a ranting wanker and so is Parry for screwing with a players careers just to prove some point. Hope he starts in time for the Arse game on Sunday and scores. Worth a punt though!!!!

3. oog Says:

Very happy with that one!

And if you’re one of those that wasn’t happy with him coming back - I understand why but is done now. There’s no point holding a grudge. Thats modern football for you, and as I said at the time, he always gave his all for us which is all you can ask.

And you know he will carrying on giving us his all, starting against Arsenal on Sunday!

4. TobytheYid Says:

Bugger - looks like the russian blues have got Quaresma - that damned Portuguese connection.

hey ho - well happy with Keane.

I hope the rejected ‘Obafemi Martins for Darren Bent’ deal was all bollocks - Martins is a quality striker.

5. Block54Diaz Says:

At number 1 is Robbie Keane.

My four year old has been singing that for the last 6 months,as it was one of the first songs I taught him. It’s difficult to explain he no longer plays for us, he doesn’t get that concept.
What a waste of my time trying to stop him.

Welcome back Robbie, hope the boo boys stay off your back. I for one am pleased with this signing.

6. TobytheYid Says:

Fuck - Defoe out for…10 weeks. Aaargh.

7. The Futures Lilywhite Says:

Very happy to see Robbie back, lets hope he can help us do the Scum on Sunday.

Feel sorry for Jenas though, he must feel very wanted by the club at this time :L

8. Glory Glory Says:

Happy on a football level to see Keano back where he belongs.

However, the message to all current and indeed future Spurs players, is that loyalty now means nothing to us (for us, read Levy). Sure, go and play for a CL team… when it doesn’t work out for you we’ll happily buy you back… etc etc

Joke of a club, joke of a team. Hope the team can provide some cheer on Sunday. Whilst Levy is around I doubt the club ever will

9. oog Says:

I don’t agree GG.

The message to all curent and future Spurs players is that if you are good enough and you improve the team, we might try and re-sign you. Oh and ok, loyalty doesn’t matter to us, nor in fact to anyone in the premiership era. Including lots of fans who even when you had been at the club for ages still often complained about you and wanted to get rid of you to Everton even though lots of other fans could see you were one of our best players.

Its football. Unless you sign someone off the terraces, there’s no point pretending any player is loyal. Giggs is a one club man, but only because there was no-one better for him to go to. Terry is a one club man, but if Abramovich were to call in his debts tomorrow, off to Man City he would go. That just how it is these days.

Its not really any different from Klinsmann, except this time we didn’t wash the chairman’s car with his shirt.

A goal or two this wekend, or keep us up, and almost all will be forgiven.

10. oog Says:

And even if you do sign someone of the terraces, pretty soon they’ll become a player and think like a player and sign for other clubs like a player would!

11. Glory Glory Says:

Well I guess we’ll agree to disagree on this one, oog.

Don’t get me wrong, the plight of the team is far too important to worry about Keano abandoning us in the summer. I fully back him now he’s back in Lilywhite, but I do feel he has to prove himself again to many fans…especially with no Berbatov to link up with. It really will be a true test of his abilities. That said, Robbie ALWAYS gave 110% and showed prode in the shirt.

It’s just a shame that we even have to contemplate this scenario that we are in now. I know I must sound like a broken record, (and it’s fully obvious now that Comolli, Ramos & BMJ are no longer at the club) but who is the common denominator in all this?

12. Glory Glory Says:

bollocks - can anyone tell me how you get things in bold/italics etc on here?!!

13. Glory Glory Says:

ah, I think I may have figured it out now *Fingers crossed*

14. Glory Glory Says:

Yay! :)

15. oog Says:

GG, this is cool. Lets create blog history and agree to disagree!

I just got to the point a while back where I realised that whilst I love Tottenham and I love football, I don’t love football players. They will to a man disappoint you if you expect them to be loyal, so just accept things as they are and you’ll get along a lot better. (I’m not suggesting you aren’t coping or anything! Just expressing my attitude to the game because I’m working at home and feel like rambling a bit!).

I don’t try and justify anything players do, I don’t try and justify anything the club does, I quite often don’t try and justify things the fans do! Unless I think its justifiable! Just enjoy the atmosphere if you go to the games, and enjoy supporting your team whether you go or not.

All a player needs to do is to try when he wears the shirt, and to not shit on the club from a great height. Only Sol shat on us from a great enough height to really make me dislike him. I’m afraid I like football too much to even hate Berbatov, although I probably booed him when he played at the lane earlier this season.

Look. Football is a cruel mistress. She’s a wife, she’s a mother, she’s a daughter, she’s an errant child.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeG9r6HxJgE

16. Glory Glory Says:

I see your points oog. And clearly we do agree on somethings… Sol Campbell is a cunt, for starters!

However, Berbatov’s behaviour in the summer is indefensible as far as I am concerned. Whether or not you believe in loyalty, it matters not. You don’t go on a sulky strike and refuse to play for a club. Full stop. According to good old Sepp, players are being abused as ’slaves’, but I think the opposite can also be true - clever (greedy) agents know the laws and know how to engineer it so that a club HAS to sell a player when they have no legal obligation to.

In other words, football is completely fucking fucked.

I partly agree again with you oog (twice in one day!)… I don’t love footballers… BUT… I am also fast falling out of love with football.

17. sputnik Says:

you’re both right in your views

for me, I don’t blame Robbie for leaving for Liverpool and basically, at 28, it was his big chance for the immediate big time and champions league, which is just not where we are at yet.
I believe he loves Spurs - after all the clubs he’s been at, 6 years service and the captaincy with us proved that. He has a bond - that maybe could one day be on the same level as Teddy or Jurgen.
Now, he’s realised there’s a second chance with Spurs and that it just wasn’t working for him at his ‘boyhood club’.
Big characters are and will be vital for our club - certainly at the moment - Robbie brings this even if he’s on the bench and Harry knows this.
The other point is, most of us were probably more pissed at Robbie leaving than we were of Berba as it was so unexpected at the time. Berba used us as a stepping stone .. so we got used, that’s life. But sure there was more emotion with Keano. But he’s talismanic and a real crowd favourite. In my book 6 years service is good loyalty and whilst I love my club, everyone has the right to aspire to reach the heights in their careers which is what he did at that time (like Teddy to Man U and Jurgen back to Bayern).
so like the Murphy’s… (no pun intended) i’m not bitter

I welcome him back and only have the concern about Defoe - as I really want him to be the main man - but with our 4 strikers it will have to be 2 partnerships of big man, little man!

he’s not world class, but robbie is a massive talent with jack in the box tricks ..
it’s a good move for him to come back and he must have massive motivation to prove himself to back to us and also to Liverpool to show them what they missed out on..
Let’s face it - we need his infectious spirit in the team and we need his energy to get us out of this hole - starting against the scum
I was devastated at our lack of guts in the last 15 against Bolton which is exactly what you need to survive - goal line clearances and put it in where it hurts (like Wigan etc) not Bentley on the line fluffing it ! We may still be a bit lacking in the physical - as always from set pieces, but Robbie brings enthusiasm and hope - he’s that sort of fella

in fact, all I want is a team of Robbie Keanes..

18. Hornchurch Yids Says:

Interesting stuff chaps.

I am now of the opinion that I don’t actually care who plays for us. What I mean is that, as long as the players that pull on the shirt give their all in fighting to keep us up, then that is all I can ask. I will worry about the merits of each player in the summer. I can’t do that indulgent thing, thinking about whether Bentley is being played out of position, or whether Modric is too lightweight for centre mid and should be played off of Pav. Just get stuck in lads and don’t fuck up our lives any more than they are already fucked up.

In saying that, I am glad that Robbie is back. He is a fighter and that is exactly what we need at the moment.

19. TobytheYid Says:

Whats this about keane being captain?not that i think he wouldnt make a good one but what must the other players think?

21. Glory Glory Says:

They mustn’t think, Dude. Footballers & thinking is a bad combo! Just let them do their stuff on the pitch. Our current full strength 1st XI should easily be enough to play at least 60% of the prem off the park… just hope it’s not too late for them to prove it.

22. TobytheYid Says:

Really good read:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/tottenham/article5680246.ece

23. cosmo Says:

Good read, ‘arry will keep us up his way and his way only. He’s been in the game long enough to know whats what. Further more the teams that he managed in the past and kept up in premireship were shit teams who were in financial dire in the first place. If they did’nt spend money, where would they be now?. When this season is over hopefully our players (and the board)will look back and come to the conclusion that they were complacent and realise that making knee jerk reactions and getting rid of Martin Jol when things did’nt start too well us. I truly believe that we would not be in this position if he was still here. Some of you may think different on that i’m sure.

Palacios is definately what we need who gets stuck in as we saw today against the arse and a well deserved man of the match and Modric doing the same. it was a plesure to watch other than the fact our finishing was shite on the day.

Im probably spouting a load of bollocks but thats my feelings. I am Spurs fan totally and hate other teams slagging spurs by saying we live on past glory…Fuck you at least we have a history!

27. Wattson Says:

Hey Oog, yeh still around.

The game is on Channel Five tonight. Try this site for seeing if games are televised http://livesportontv.com/

28. Wattson Says:

Just seen the crazy schedule of games that include a Carling Cup final and 2 premierleague games in just 6 days. That is going to be tough to come out of with our heads above water. If we drop the cup, we need atleast 4 points out of the 2 league games to make me feel better.

29. Glory Glory Says:

I’d happily trade a thumping in the CCF for 6 points from out next two league games.

COYS

30. Hornchurch Yids Says:

Yesterdays result probably works well for Harry. He certainly won’t go chasing the return leg and will not feel the need the play a stronger line up than last night. Maybe if we had come away with a 0 - 0 he might have been in a position where the game was ours to win at home. Now, I reckon he has the excuse to play a similar “weakened” team next week. So, all guns blazin for Hull and the cup. The UEFA cup is history I’m afraid.

Although, the young uns have it in em to win the home leg.

I’m still feeling very pessimistic. I just don’t see us getting to 40 points. Help me out here chaps. Explain to me why we will do it?

COYS

31. Wattson Says:

We will be alright Hornchurch. We will get out of this mess. Im optimistic that we can string 3 results together soon to heave us up out of trouble.

32. Glory Glory Says:

There’s no point in predicting any results, but to get to 40 points we need 5 wins. It will be a squeeze, but I think we will actually be ok, even if we don’t get 40 points…AS LONG AS we get the ‘right’ points…i.e. against the teams around us…WBA, Newcastle, Boro. You can add Hull to that list too probably.

IF we can win 3/4 of those (the three home games seem most likely) then it wont matter that we mightn’t reach 40 points…as long as we prevent the other teams getting there.

I keep daring to believe that we can beat Chelsea at home, but I wont be holding my breath.

I do feel there is going to be a MAJOR twist in the tale though… not sure what, but it is shaping up to be a mega-exciting ending. Not really the kind of excitement we all want, granted!

33. Hornchurch Yids Says:

Cheers chaps. that does help but I still have this sick feeling in my gut that won’t go away.

I just want to get to the summer and start again and get that enthusiam back( and still be in the prem). At the moment I’m just filled with dread.

34. Sputnik Says:

I thought Stan Collymore was pretty damning of Gomes last night - claiming he was pretending to be hurt..
Gomes definitely made a meal of it but if there’s a chance of a head injury the trainers will be on right away.
i can’t help feel sorry for him - but he’s clearly dodgy from set pieces coming for the ball and not getting there BUT I’m more disappointed with Zokora for giving such a stupid free kick away. However, despite all that, it was a classy solo goal that would have still won it for them. Just more of a mountain to climb.
Reading very critical comments on Harry Hotspur on Harry’s selections. This is wrong in my view. I have complete faith in Rednapp to make this team his own - but to start with he need to be aiming at more than what now has to be a relegation battle. UEFA cup is nothing but a distraction and therefore he isn’t tainting any Spurs traditions in my book etc.. I’d like to have seen more of Bostock, but apart from that, the selection was quite respecting of the competition I thought. Now however, I wouldn’t blame him for fielding the kids for the 2nd leg and forgetting about it altogether. Our chances of prem survival whilst still in the UEFA will be severely reduced.
The final however, perfect chance to give it everything for a one-off chance at a trophy and qualification again - but still a second priority..

35. oog Says:

Sputnik, I agree with pretty much everything you say. I also thought similar things to Collymore. I do’t doubt he was hurt, but somehow it does always seem to be that where there’s a cock up there’s a gomes looking injured and yes usually able to muddle on through.

I find Collymore making any kind of assertion about a player’s attitude a bit hard to take though!

If anything last night has cleared something up in my head. Previously I always thought signing Cudicini was nice but a bit of a shame as I really wanted Gomes to come good. But so long as Cudicini is solid, there’s simply no contest, and I’m now even losing a bit of goodwill to Gomes.

Redknapp is really getting it in the neck at the moment. I don’t like him, as I’ve said previously, but a lot of the stick is unmerited.

36. Wattson Says:

Fingers crossed we get what we need tonight lads. I see this game as one that could well seal our fate.

37. cosmo Says:

Watson, was thinking the same thing.

Got a good chance tonight thiough cos Bullards fucked for the rest of the season. He may not be prettyest of footballers ( was talking about his football skills that is…..) but Hull could off been uplifed by his presents on the field. Hope that set back plays a part in their defeat tonight……..Fuck it ive stuck me neck out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get in there you Liilywhites!

38. Hornchurch Yids Says:

Did we need that result or what.

Play the kids on Thursday and go hell for leather against the Mancs on Sunday.

This season may have a few more twists and turns yet.

39. Wattson Says:

Definitely the result we needed, so thank fuck for that. We are so very shakey on set pieces though. You just know that as soon as we give away an unnecessary corner we are in trouble. Been the story of the last few games.
I would like to see us exploit players a bit better. Lennon was good early on and managed to get their left back booked in the first 15, so you would think we send Lennon down the wing at every opportunity, but he was unused after that.
Jenas I thought was decent in defence but lazy in going forward an getting into space. Modric worked his arse off as usual but he needs more movement from those around him and upfront.

Fingers crossed for Sunday hey. Who is heading out there? Ill be in Prague watching it from an Irish pub no doubt

40. Hornchurch Yids Says:

didn’t have enough points for a ticket so will be in a pub swearing at the telly.

On a positive note, the boys must be feeling pretty good this morning. They got that all important win and now they have Wembley to look forward to. We start as under dogs which takes some of the pressure off. Hopefully, the players will rise to the occasion.

Maybe Inter can do us a few favours tonight? I want to see some agricultural challenges and the glisten of studs in the moonlight. Get in to ‘em.

41. RosieRoo Says:

So, do we reckon we’ll do it on Sunday? I like to be optimistic but Man U are just so bloody good though, aren’t they?

By the way, if anyone’s going to the game, could you do us a match report? I remember reading the Bagel’s last year the morning after that triumphant day and getting goosebumps.

Anyone up for it? Bagel himself perhaps?

42. oog Says:

I’ll give it a go. I think the Bagel can’t be persuaded.

I’ve blagged a free ticket to Chelsea v Juve tonight. Forgive me yids.

Obviously… FORZA JUVE

43. Hornchurch Yids Says:

RR

Last year, against Chelsea I didn’t think that we could win. I thought Chelsea were just too consistent all over the pitch. They had an off day and we played well. We had a very good game plan and we stuck to it. If we are to win on sunday we need a similar scenario. United will have to be below par and we will have to avoid the stupid defensive mistakes which have blighted our season so far.

So, with the knowledge of what happened last year, yes we can do it. But I just think United will be too strong, no matter what team they field. Maybe the presssure of the league will lift for Sunday and the boys will feel liberated to perform to top of their abilities. If so, then who knows?

Good luck to one and all.

44. Hornchurch Yids Says:

I’m slightly worried that Dawson is going to be left on the bench on sunday. He has been one of our best defenders since Harry joined. As much as I want to see Leds play, he just isn’t fit enough. He looked out of sorts against Hull. Dawson has shown the passion and the desire when other players were left wanting. He should start the game.

45. Glory Glory Says:

Agree 100% Hornchurch. We need to ‘get over’ Ledley. He’s a shadow of his former self and we need to build a defensive partnership for the future.

It really pains me to say that, but thants the kind of tough love our club seem to be bereft of.

Ledley is certainly one of my favourite Spurs ever. A loyal servant, who leads by example and I was so pleased for him at Wembey last year when he lifted that trophy. The bare minimum he deserved. It’s amazing to think he’s only 28 still and depressing to think what could have been if he’d stayed free of injury.

However, the manager has to draw a line under this once and for all for the good of the team and the club.

As for Sunday, my heart says yes, of course we can do it. It’s only a 90 minute game of football with 11 a side. Last year we were underdogs etc etc.
My head says that we have next to no chance of matching Manure’s workrate, determination, teamwork, skill and experience. I don’t expect a pasting though. We will fight for it I’m sure, but ultimately we wont have enough in the locker to pull this one off.

Either way, I’m going to enjoy the day come what may… this is the last hurrah for me I guess before I jack the season ticket in.

COYS

46. Wattson Says:

Not too unexpected to be knocked out of the cup but I thought overall it was a good performance from the fringe players. Probably should scored a few more had we been a bit more clinical, as well as had a penalty. Not to worry though.
The one thing that annoys me is how Redknapp comes out and says ‘Who am I supposed to pick before a final?’. As if he has no faith in the ability of the youngsters there. Overall I thought they played well and should be encouraged by their performance.

47. Hornchurch Yids Says:

I understand ‘Arry’s reasons but it still doesn’t feel right. Anyway, enough of that.

Howabout a Friday poll? Who would be your player of the season so far? I suppose we can ignore the first 8 games as I can’t think of one player that did anything of note.

48. Wattson Says:

For me so far I think it would have to be Lennon.

49. Hornchurch Yids Says:

As this could be just me and you Wattson, My choice would be Dawson.

When we needed a player the exemplify the qualities needed to get us out of the shit he has certainly been that gutsy fighter that we were sorely missing. I’ll be gutted is he misses the final after being injured last season. Whether King will be fit anyway is still anyones guess. I just hope ‘Arry makes the call on who is the best pick and not on sentiment.

50. Wattson Says:

Yeh I agree. I was actually going to write Lennon and Dawson. Dawson is one of the few remaining professional footballers in the game. No arguments from him when out of favour, and a complete battling never say die attitude when called upon. You cant imagine him refusing to play because the club wasnt giving him his big money move.

My choice of Lennon was probably based around the fact that he has been one of the few Spurs players to take the game to the opposition. Where others have been standing scared and offloading the ball, he was willing to run at opponents and try things.

51. Hornchurch Yids Says:

Dawson reminds me of how players used to be. How they should be.

He is not quite in Graham Roberts league but next to Robbo was Paul “Max” Miller and the two were a frightening duo. Miller was limited as a player but he made up for it in spades with guts and desire.

I agree with you about Lennon. He has been mostly brilliant. After an average season last year he has got himself back on track. Fair play to him. He may just be the key to Sunday.

52. RosieRoo Says:

Am I too late to join in? I’d say Lennon too. I think he’s improved so much since last season. He’s electric and a thrill to watch.

53. Hornchurch Yids Says:

please do. That makes 3. We now have a crowd.

Beef Bagel official attendence: 3

RR. what are your thoughts about Sunday?

54. Sputnik Says:

i definitely agree with sentiments about Dawson - he’s proved his resilience coming through a tough spell and is back to his reliable best. He’s a strong pro and no doubt strongly admired by Rednapp - I hope he plays Sunday but have faith in Harry’s choice.
However, one player who would make my starting 11 and not as a sub is Jamie O’Hara. We need battlers with grit and determination out there, and without Palacios, I stick O’Hara in the spotlight and tell him to enjoy himself and get stuck in. He will give Scholes, Fletcher et al a fight..
got my ticket right here - can’t wait for the pub beforehand as well ! last year was so dominant for Spurs fans over Chelsea - i’m sure it’ll be the same again!
Come On You Magnificent SPURS!!!!

55. Hornchurch Yids Says:

Sputnik

I reckon you have the tactics right about the need to physically compete in midfield with Utd. The only doubt over O’Hara maybe that he is just coming back from injury. I would go with him. He has the knack of scoring goals for us, something that Jenas seems to have lost. I imagine that it will be Jenas and Zok to fight for the ball with Lennon and Bentley wide. Modric will link up to Pav.

What do you think?

56. cosmo Says:

Am I accepted as the 4th attendee? Yes Dawson for me as well, he is one that has been consistant and when the ball comes to him he’s reliable and clears danger without any fuss. Can I add a close 2nd here if I may?…I have to hold my hand up and say Modric as well. He came to us when Ramos was well renound for being a top quality manager and remememer we just won the Carling Cup to boot so he thought yeh things are looking rosey here at the Lane. Modric probably was promised succsess beyond belief, but unfortuately it never materialised in the firrst 8 games or so and subsiquently at one point we proping everyone up in the league. Then to top it all we sack ramos and then bring in a relativly unknown Manager for Modric to play under. What Im trying to say is, could you imagine what was going through his mind at that time and then still play for us getting better and better with each game. he could of easily of said fuck this for a laugh and done a berby sulk on us, but no, he showed proffessionlism though all our turmoil until now.

Bringing in Corluka was a master stroke. Not only is he a very good player but he must have helped Modders settle in and helped him through all the managerial merry go round. If I may jump in at #6… my vote is for Dawson. He must be one of the most under-appreciated and underrated players in the league. Brings me back to that one year when he played every single game (save two or three) and at the end of that year, Berbatov was voted player of the season - which was great, Berba had a fantastic season, but it just goes to show that a player like Dawson will always be left getting very little of the credit.

I will not be surprised of King gets the nod over Dawson on Sunday, and much as I love the captain, I’ll be sorely disappointed if (when?) that happens.

61. cosmo Says:

I hope to god we play well tomorrow. I can handle it if we lose by 1 goal and played good or even lose 2 - 1 and play good, but to lose and play shit and on top of that get thumped 3 or 4 nil i think i’ll cry.

The same shit was spouted by tv pundits last year that Chelski are gonna win and all that bollocks and i’m hearing the same shit this morning…Oi Merson fuck off!!!!! Could this a be good omen, has ‘arry got something up his sleeve? PLEASE.

Good luck guys

#7

Bagel come back for one more match report, PLEASE

COME ON YOU SPURS!

63. Dude Says:

Right guys, its crunch time! Nobody is giving us a chance in hell, we are the underdogs and this is when spurs are at their best. Its going to be tough but we can do it and i am sure the boys will be up for it. Im going for a zokora extra time screamer. 2-1 to the mighty yids! COME ON YOU SPURS!!!

64. Yid of the Norf Says:

Well, as number 8 or 9, I’d like to add my support to Dawson. He is of the old mold players (blood & guts)

Today, well I’m obviously hoping we can do it, but win or lose just so long as we give a good account of ourselves. That said, living where I do, I have had weeks of plastic & real manure fans saying how much of a foregone conclusion today’s final is, including a rather smug boss of mine… For Spurs to be the one club to upset the manure apple cart in the trophy count would be absolutely marvelous. I would love to turn up for work tomorrow, with a broad grin on my face (not a smug grin, a pleased, confident, relaxed grin) walk in to the 9am morning meeting & bathe in their awkward “oh shit, by eck, here’s t’lad from t’south!

Come On You Spurs! We can step up to the plate. It’s not going to be easy, but now is the time to stand up & be counted. time to show our true grit & determination

Oh when the Spurs
Go marching in
Oh when the Spurs
Go marching in
I wanna be in that number
Oh when the Spurs go marching in

65. Dude Says:

Yid of the norf, if we win i suggest when you go in to work you should sing glory glory. That would really rub it in.

66. Wilson Says:

Never mind eh??

67. farah Says:

For what it was worth, the boys played their hearts out and have nothing to be ashamed of…

68. cosmo Says:

We gave the manure a scare did’nt we….can someone ask this question for me, are we still eligible for european football next season? I keep hearing mummerings that we are!

69. Adie Says:

I think european qualification will go to the sixth team in the league not the carling cup runner up, sadly.

70. farah Says:

But if the boys continue to play like they did last night, sixth place is quite plausible….?

71. cosmo Says:

Adie..but if my memory serves me right, did’nt Millwall lose the carling cup final a few seasons back and still got into europe..sorry Ive got this bee in my bonnet at the moment on this….

Farah….I dunno about that one but anything could happen thats why im angling for the technicality senario!

72. Hornchurch Yids Says:

Cosmo

Millwall lost the FA cup final so did get into UEFA. The league cup runners up don’t qualify. Look on the positive side, no UEFA cup next season might be a blessing in disguise. I doubt ‘Arry will be too bothered.

Chin up chaps. 3 points on Wednesday is the way to bounce back.

73. cosmo Says:

O bollocks…I Think i’m still in denial about Sunday sorry guys!…its gonna seem wierd were not playing european footy next season it was nice while it lasted.

As u said HY look on the positive for the boro game Weds, i’ll be at Lane cheering on the 3 points…

COYS

74. Hornchurch Yids Says:

It is still so tight down the bottom. We have to win on Wednesday otherwise we could drop as low as 19th if other results go against us.

If we don’t get 4 points from our next 2 games then I’m afraid that this nightmare will go to the last game of the season for us.

No proeblem eh? It’s only at fuckin Anfield. Robbie Keane to get a hat trick?

75. Glory Glory Says:

Cosmo - Millwall lost the FA Cup final, not League cup. There is definitely no Euro spot for the runners-up in the League cup. If there was, we’d have all been overjoyed at just getting to Wembley as we’d have been in UEFA already.

In a strange way, perhaps it’s a blessing in disguise that we wont have Euro football next year. The last time we weren’t in Europe we nearly finished 4th in the league. If it wasn’t for the pesky lasagne we would’ve been too! ;)

As much as ‘Arry annoys me, I think the set-up now is just right for us to rebuild (again!) this summer and try to establish ourselves as a top 6 club again. This will certainly not be easy, but with a similar quality squad to what BMJ had when he took over, and hopefully a better partner for Wilson in CM, there is no reason why we shouldn’t do this next season (assuming we stay up of course)!

Wednesday is massive - we simply have to win to pile the pressure back onto our relegation rivals. The weekends league results were pretty much disastrous for us, but it is all in our own hands from now on in. Plus, ‘Arry can’t moan about distractions anymore. Time for everyone to earn their salt.

I’m not going to give my thoughts on yesterday, as they have been summed up already by Farah. The only thing I will add is that Bentley should be ashamed of himself. I’m not blaming him that we lost, but it is quite astonishing how someone who can hit a ball into a skip from a rooftop 100ft away can miss the target from 12 yards. Maybe someone should have bet him £15k that he wouldn’t score??

76. Yid of the Norf Says:

Tonight is a must win game, but how much do we have left in the tank after Sunday’s heartache?

77. Wattson Says:

I like to think we will have enough players that didnt play in the game on sunday that can fill the void. Little worried about our defence tonight though. Cant see a clean sheet.
We need Robbie to go on a goal scoring run.

78. TobytheYid Says:

Agreed. I worry deeply about our run in.

But then, I do worry about most things.

SO - relegated or not - who’s gonna get a tattoo from this guy?? Anyone already got one?

79. farah Says:

Wattson, I’m thrilled that you were wrong about the clean sheet and right about needing Robbie to score (and he must have heard you)! :)

80. Wattson Says:

Farah - Couldnt be happier to be wrong!

Brilliant win for us last night. Little Aaron is on hot form at the moment.

81. cosmo Says:

Great win last night…Good to have our Spurs back!

C O Y S!

82. Hornchurch Yids Says:

Little Lennon maybe shading it for “player of the season”.

At least we are winning our league matches. Survival is everything.

The last day of the season could be crazy with so many teams involved in the dogfight. We need to keep on performing like last night to make sure we aren’t one of those teams. I fancy us to get a win at Sunderland. Another blinder from Lennon and we will.

83. sputnik Says:

what a result!! Boro couldn’t work out what hit em!!

funny - i think the cup final performance buoyed the team and they went out last night with more confidence.
players like Daws, Lennon, Modric and Zokora still full of energy - we assume they must be knackered and cramped up but the fitness levels are unbelievable!
and then there’s Robbie Keane - he’s the skeleton key to unlock any defence! such a clever player - the sight of him linking with modric, lennon to supply a front man is a total joy! there are so few players like him - not since Teddy at tottenham for me..
Harry will keep their feet on the ground as we have to build on a superb performance and finish strongly - not with a whimper, scraping survival.
but much to be encouraged about - i’m still disappointed we didn’t do Man U as it was so so close but we have a lot to be positive about
looking at the league - teams like Villa and even Hull - starting to fade out somewhat - goes to show, the big 4 is probably still as it is and you have to have a large squad - which is what makes me that bit more confident - we’ve got a lot of competition for places - far from the ‘bare bones’ as Harry likes to say..
good to see us do well against a N East club finally n all!

84. Wattson Says:

Need to keep the boys fit for the rest of the season. I suppose its a good thing that we have no more cup comps to distract us. Whereas teams around us like Hull an Boro still do.

85. Hornchurch Yids Says:

Palacios has made an instant and massive difference. He just knows where he needs to be on a football pitch. With a player like that in our side it frees up the likes of Modric and Lennon to get creative going forward.

It was great to see O’Hara get a good reception. He deserves it for his spirit, passion and desire.

86. The Futures Lilywhite Says:

I have a feeling winning that game last night would have felt better than winning the Micky Mouse Cup, in my opinion anyway.

COYS!

87. Hornchurch Yids Says:

Well, one way of looking at it is that if we had won on Sunday and then lost last night, the glow of triumph would have quickly been replaced by deep despair.

88. The Futures Lilywhite Says:

Better put than I did Hornchurch!

Yids!
