Harry Smart’s Circus

It’s a bit difficult to keep up with events. It’s a little bit easier trying to follow things on the pitch, but off it, that’s another matter altogether!

Finally, a goal arrived in the league with the equaliser against Portsmouth. Then the numbing experience of the second leg at Burnley which was a bit of a shaker. Of course, if the away goals rule applied at the end of two legs, then that was it – ‘holders’ shock exit in semi-final’? Spurs looked like an average Championship side, which is what we’re not trying to become, next season? I did think of several show ponies in a circus on display, plus some donkeys.

Then, what sort of team were we going to put out at Old Trafford given all the news coverage (this seems endless at the moment)? Well, in the event, not too bad a team but a chance, with Rooney absent and Ronaldo hobbling off, went by. More effort was needed here. So, we can’t win all the competitions we’ve entered this season after all.

At least, we scored some goals against Stoke but still a fragile performance. I’m more hopeful than some. We’re in touch with the pack, we’ve signed (signed back) some reasonable players – a good striker and good goalie and hopefully useful midfielder. How the squad will look at the end of this period, and until the next window when the merry-go-round will start again, I don’t know.

Maybe we can repeat last season’s surprise Wembley win, against the odds, and once again we’ll be looking to next season? It would be nice to keep a manager for a season or three, let alone some players!

Glancing at Graham Roberts’ autobiography didn’t do some other characters in past management at the club any favours!

Back to the future again! COYS.

Mazal Tov! 3 goals & 3 points! I’d forgotten what that felt like nearly!

Well done Spurs, but the hard work is only just beginning…by my reckonning and looking at the games we have left, I think we need at least 5 more home wins and even then that might not be enough.

COYS - you can do it.

It’s always a good day when Dawson scores… (bear with my moment of fangirlism, please) :p

By the way, is it still true that Bale has never been on a winning Tottenham side? Hmmm….

Oh my giddy aunt. They’re at it again. I wish they would just shut up and get on with scrapping for their / our lives. Top 6 finish? I asks ya!

    This from little Lennon.

“When we were looking at the table a couple of weeks ago, it wasn’t nice to
see us down in the bottom three, so to pull away from that is good. We’ve got to
    keep going now,” he said.
“But we’re not out of it yet because it’s so tight down there, and we have to
keep it going, starting with Bolton on Saturday.
“If we keep going and put a run together, who knows? We might even be able to
    push for Europe.”

  4. Block54Diaz Says:

Push for Europe? 90 minutes on March 1st Mr Lennon.

I do wonder about these players.

  5. Wilson Says:

Why push for Europe when we can simply win the Carling Cup. Worked last year!

  7. sputnik Says:

    thanks!

Sorted for Wembley. section 136 row 30something. Thats me, the bagel, and no doubt several other people on here with made up names who I don’t realise are the same people I see every two weeks at the Lane!

Glory Glory - how serious were you the other day about giving up your season ticket? If you were going to do that would you be open to seeing whether someone might be interested in keeping it going, if you see what I mean? Depends on where it is, if you’re up for it etc. but thought I’d ask…

  9. Glory Glory Says:

Hi oog - already got about 2 or 3 in line I’m afraid!

It’s in block A, not the greatest seat, but far from the worst. Cost £750 last year, so with the VAT decrease and subsequent price freeze should cost about £735 I reckon. Works out about £35 a game.

Talking of made up names… mine is farily obvious, as I think a few other monikers on here are… but oog? Care to shed any light?

    Or should that be Glazgee?

Watched a live stream and really believed we would grab a win at 2-2.

Still feeling positive though, keep the faith people!

Well that makes one of us Diaz!

Nothing has changed since before the Stoke game in my opinion… it’s at home where will decide our fate. I don’t expect more than 5-6 points more from our away games, so we need to take at least 13 points at home to give ourselves a fighting chance. This is doable…wins versus WHU, WBA, Boro & Man City, and maybe a point apiece from Scum, Chelscum & Newcastle. In fact, that would leave it mighty tight… better beat the scum just to make sure ;)
