I Don’t Like Mondays

Well, nobody likes Mondays from a work point of view, but thinking about it although the weekend was devoid of any important football, it gives us something to look forward to after the weekend – as long as we win!

We’re still waiting for the awards for November (I couldn’t even trace those for October?), but December started OK at Watford. Not the best of jobs but we’re through and most of the difficult obstacles are out of the way – but not all of course. At the moment, we could still win all 4 trophies this season (have you been at the bottle again?), but yes I’m quietly confident about the London Senior Cup! Of course, the old League Cup is still our most likely passport into Europe next season so it’s also very important, for money if nothing else. The team’s still a bit fragile but maybe we’ll improve – still quite a way off the top four, as is everyone else.

We still want a couple of wins or three on the trot to give us real lift but waited all season last year and it never happened. The next few weeks look good on paper so let’s see if we can make it look good on grass! COYS.

The Platzel.

As a ‘long time’ Spurs fan I yearn for 3 points against WHU….but I do not fully trust my team to replicate the fast flowing football that we are capable of….and I fear that WHU will ‘fluke’ a win and place us back where we ‘don’t wish to spend thew next week! COYS (1-2 to Spurs….!)

Well, there’s the match we needed. What a fine sequence from Gomes and O’Hara there at the end. Nothing like putting ole West Ham in their place. COYS!!!!

    TFB

you were spot on with the caravan though. It was their “cup final” and they lost again. Hilarious.

WHU are in trouble - and I thought we were bad in midfield!

By the way, depite having a good game last night, I don’t want to see Didier Z anywhere near the 1st team at Spurs. The guy is a fcuking liability and our midfield is so much better without him.

Also, Bentley still flatters to deceive bigtime. Waste of money? We will see.

Big thumbs up to Lennon, Gomes & Ekotto - proved any doubters wrong last night I reckon.

And lastly, a SPECIAL word on King - What a joy to see him score again…and against those scummy, BNP voting, Primark shopping, sister fuckers.

  9. Hornchurch Yids Says:

Good old Gomes coming up with the double save at the death. what a bloke. Some more work on crosses and corners and he might just be alright.

GG - Harry picking Zokora to hassle Bellamy and the West Ham midfield was a good selection. His industry really unsettled them and they never really had anmy time to settle. I would go for Hudd against the Mancs. His range of passing is needed if we are to cut them open. He may also get a bit more time on the ball.

  10. sputnik Says:

just don’t agree with the Zokora bashing GG, what game were you watching!?
agreed in the first half, much like jenas and lennon they ran down blind allies and lost possession, but in the 2nd Zokora was menacing and often a threat going forward. He showed a quick turn of pace and good, fast distribution.
He’s clearly preferred over huddlestone for now and that just shows good competition for places.
come on - give the guy a break, it was hardly a bad game for him!

  11. The Futures Bright,The Futures Lilywhite Says:

I’m with GG on the Zak, the guy works hard and breaks things up in the midfield but whenever he trys to play football it fails, badly.

  12. Hornchurch Yids Says:

I don’t dislike Zokora and think that he is a very athletic and agressive player. There are some games that he is the ideal player to have in the side. I just think that on many occassions he has not been good enough. Can’t fault him for effort. The same can be said of Bentley. Maybe under ‘Arry these two will really come good. I take my hat off to Zokora for last night, after a slow start he really started to dominate in the midfield. Shame he didn’t score after that surging run. Now that would have been mental!

  13. TobytheYid Says:

    Platzel,

I have to say, I don’t think there aren’t any teams near the top four… Villa are very close. Now, whether they can maintain that, where we, and Everton recently, have failed, only the next 3 seasons will tell.

We really aren’t looking as sharp, or dangerous as we have been over the last few seasons. Yes, I am being pessimistic again.

Why are we STILL missing a solid DM, and a real left winger?

Bent looked more dangerous than Pav, but dear lord he spurned some chances. Who do we need? Or do we have enough up front?!

It won’t happen, even in the summer - but would you all welcome, theoretically, Keane back into the fold? I most certainly would, and Defoe. Or, like girlfriends, should you ‘never look back’??

  14. dace Says:

MAN CITY will be top 4 contender. Wake up.

  15. RosieRoo Says:

TtY - I’d love to see Defoe back. Not so sure about Keane.

  16. Irish Yiddo Says:

keane is tainted….hes done the dirt, he’s went behind our back and tried it on with the girlfriend…hes insulted the mother, hes pissed on the cornflakes…..no no no…..defoe on the other hand…

id let him ave a go with the missus, id bring him in to meet my mother, and he could eat all the cornflakes, in the house.

Hoping to get over for the Wigan Cup game, and the Portsmouth game… looking forward to Jan….

Come on yids, lets get one over the Uneeeiteeed on Sat.

  17. oog Says:

Keane is tainted, he’s done the dirt… if thats how you see it.

    but he’s better than Defoe!

Which is why we might get Defoe (who I’d also welcome back) but not Keane!

I’d welcome back Berbatov too, though. Its all about self interest with practically all players. You think Defoe wouldn’t have jumped at an offer from Liverpool if one had come in?

Unless they are in the Matt Le Tissier mould, all you can ask is that they give their all. Even then, I think it was self-interest, he just didn’t have the burning ambition to leave.

But its also fun to hate players, I get that!

  18. Irish Yiddo Says:

Oog, totally agree with ya, pal.

Was only joking - of course id love in some great world to see the Keane back - but its not going to happen…

Like stranger things have happened, and Keano will always be a legend, i have lost count the amount of times i have stuck up for him against liverpool fans recently.. but i think we should move on - and, try and get someone who will be a new hero for us, give the Pav & bent a chance, never know… maybe a good DM, to help out my free up the Creative minded players to have more confidence on pushing further up?

also how good has Aaron”run down alleys no-more” lennon been so far this season. hes final delivery has improved immensly

  19. Hornchurch Yids Says:

    Keane????????

    I’d rather have Modric.

Now if Luka can learn to score goals too, then he will be a better player than Robbie.

I think we got the best out of Robbie……eventually. shame he had to piss off when he was our hero. By the time he settles in at the bin dippers he might be past it.

  20. joe pessi mist Says:

    toby toby toby..

still pessimistic after harry has won 9 games in 12!! fu*k about..another cast iron case as to why you yids are known as the most pessimistic fans!!

    pull yourself together man!

  21. davey boy Says:

Whats this about Zokora wanted by Madrid? Surely I am dreaming? I would personally drive him over there. Do not say he is a good player and he works hard blah blah blah. He is a liability who runs about like a headless chicken. Not a game goes past when he does not have at least one howler and he will never ever score..

  22. sputnik Says:

i reckon that’s spot on Hornchurch
Keane’s price at 28 was top dollar - as high as his stock could get

the thing with him was partnership - with Teddy and then with Berba really.

Possibly the problem we had with Defoe was he was just too selfish and would only ever go it alone whereas the Berba - Keane partnership offered so many creative possibilities. Although Defoe-Crouch does seem to complement and work well..

I’d bet Keane to come good once he settles into a partnership with either Kuyt or Torres. However, I also think Modric will just get better and better - particularly as he gels with our strikers.

He was a talisman for us - maybe on the level of Klinsmann. I’m sure he could come back but it just too soon. We’re all still raw right?

We have to play 2 up front whatever happens though - look at Chelsea - they are so boring with 1 up there! Easy to see why they coveted Robinho.
I’m not convinced of Modric as a forward but there’s no doubt he can unlock defences and beat players. When he has the ball, it’s exciting and very creative. But as a goalscorer, I got reservations. Playing him forward up the pitch is a positive move though, gives us more midfield and creative opportunities - just less firepower in front of goal.

Great to have options though. This weekend’s gonna be a cracker!

good to see Giovanni’s well on his way to full fitness!

hope we win the cup again this year - I can’t wait for the Spurs annual punch up down at Faces..

    Sputnik

Are we playing 2 up front when we have Modric just behind Pav / Bent?

The formation is usally called 4 5 1 but I still think it is as good as having 2 up front. In fact it encourages us to play the ball on the floor and into wide areas and in doing so gives time for other players to join in the attack. Maybe it was just under Juande but 4 4 2 looked very ineffective when we played it. Allowing Modric the supporting role seems to have freed him up to create. It does mean that we can sometimes be light up top but we have enough players that have the speed to break in support of the front man. I think we should stick with this formation for UTD. Bringing in Hudd will give us better distribution to the wide men (Lennon / Bentley) . Modric is the key.

I know I’m going to regret sayin this, but fuck me we got a chance at beating the mancs saturday. We’ve done the rest of those cunts and saturday can’t be any different….Rooney and ronaldo suspended ( what a result!) I know Berba, Nani, Tevez, Anderson, Ferdinand shit i could on with this…..will be playing, but don’t you think there is a poss that we might just do it?????????????

  26. Block54Diaz Says:

Hornchurch, Think you are right about the 4-4-2 v 4-5-1.

Remember when Poyet said Pav and Bent can’t play together. He has been proved correct, but probably not as he first thought.

The past few games have shown that we need to play 5 in midfield to get the best out of our 2 best players a/ modric, b/lennon.
If we have 3 other midfielders it allow’s them the freedom, time and space to do what they do best.
Jenas, Bentley, O’Hara, Hudd,Zokora. Not forgetting Bale and Dos Santos.
Somewhere in there is our best midfield and it involves 5.

Cosmo - I hope you’re right. I was about 10 feet from their lot last year when they scored in the last minute. This year 3 points for the Spurs.

Arsenal tickets on sale next week!!!

Early Christmas presents all round then. Fuck the in-laws, I know where my money is going!
