Deals agreed for Berbatov and Bentley - apparently

Time scales. It’s all about time scales. The Bakery’s nearly looking like a home. Let me have a look…

…75% a home. It’s the rug under the coffee table that never itself existed. It’s the three house plants I always planned on buying; the sideboard for storage - two words I’d never really considered. What is a sideboard anyway? I mean, I’m looking it at and I was aware of its kind and existence before but how did such a thing come about? I know, let’s make the room a bit smaller and put some low cupboards and a cutlery draw in it. Surely the sideboard was the last of man’s furniture inventions? We couldn’t even name it properly. We just chucked a couple of other words at it and left it there.

The thing is, I quite like it. I knew I wanted it as soon I saw it, well as soon as I heard I could afford it. It looks pretty good and there’s place at the end to stash all your booze an area for mixing drinks. I’m sure that’s something we were always told to avoid. Sideboards positively encourage it.

So we sit here - me and Sidey - having a little tete-a-teak about change; the change that LB brings with her plant pots and rugs, the change that part of me kicks at and then wonders exactly why. Do I fear the unknown or maybe I just miss who I was, who I’m ceasing to be, or more to the point, is it about what future identity I have.

But then Sidey flaps his doors. We’re getting on pretty well the two if us and who would have thought that’d work out? Just because I have a sideboard, it doesn’t mean I’m not The Bagel.

I think you know where I’m going with this - well, I finally do anyway. I’m just worried about change.

Word comes in tonight that we’ve accepted a £28m bid for Dimitar the Unhappy, just when I’d dared to mention to Jimmy Bluto (nee Crazy Box) that part of me was beginning to secretly think that maybe we’d hang onto the beautiful Bulgarian. Just about all the papers are reporting it. It’s probably about the fairest price for both parties. £25m would have been too near a robbery and £30m to close to a rip off and it looks as if it’s 18 up front with a variety of “if he paints his locker blue and uses his right boot more than his left” clauses for the remaining 10.

We all know he’s a major talent to lose and I shudder to think how we’ll cope having to defend against him. I’m only bolstered by the solace that at least our defenders will know more about him than any other unit in the league. I also take great comfort that he’ll be banging them in against our two favourite London sides.

What bothers me is my fear of who we’ll get in next. I don’t expect them to be able to do the things of which the twinkled-toed one is capable. They don’t have to. All we need is a player who can strike the ball if what I’m reading is true - that Ramos wants to play 4-5-1; again something I fear.

4-5-1 always seems like such a boring formation, a cowards call but then I always thinks of the likes of ‘Boro and Fulham, turning up at WHL with packed midfields and not intention of scoring at all. Even if it was Juande’s plan I’m not sure he’ll have the squad for it with choices like Johnny Two Saints, Little Aaron, Luka the Mod, JJ and Steeeve.

There’s only been one paper I read that predicted the Berbatov move would never happen in perhaps the most flawed piece of logic I’ve seen all summer. The Daily Star are surmising that because Andrei Arseshaven wants to move to the the wrong end of North London that we wont let Dimi go as we were planning on using the Russian as replacement.

>So let me get this straight. We won’t let our 6′1″ striker, who’s near the end of his contract, go because we’re going to miss out on a 5′7″ attacking midfielder? Right. No, if and when we do replace Berbatov it will not be like that. We’ve that list of Podolskis and Garcia and Militos et al to get through before we rely on any dwarfs playing out of position, as good as they might be.

That’s a good point though. Garcia. Luis Garcia. We haven’t talked much about the Espanyol striker. When the rumours first came out I was horrified that we were considering the Liverpool thumb sucker. Thankfully, we’re talking about Luis García Fernández rather than Luis Javier García Sanz. Ferandez is no giant at 5′11″ but big enough to play the lone role, provided he’s got a jump on him.

>He began playing for Real Madrid C, then Real Madrid B but never quite made it to the big time until he became one with the net at Espanyol and Mallorca before that. Here’s his head…

screaming

a lot

with his horse-shaped gob.

He should be capable of playing on his own with a frame not disimilar to the likes of Michael Chopra and Darren Huckerby only taller but the worrying part for is that there’s very little evidence of his work on YouTube save several of the same clip of him missing the penalty which handed the Juande Ramos and his Sevilla their second consecutive UEFA Cup. There is this…

Celta 0 - 2 Espanyol (0-1 Luis Garcia)
by GolesTV

…but it’s not exactly a lot to go on.

It did appear as if we’d reached a £9.5m agreement with Espanyol for the services of this 27-year-old recent addition to the Spanish national squad but his club have largely rubbished it.

“We haven’t spoken to anyone, and for me the bid is only genuine if a club gets in touch with us directly,” sad Espanyol president Daniel Sanchez.

“If everything that came out in the media happened then virtually the entire squad would be sold,” he added for a nice nonchalant sounding effect, and it’s worked. I don’t think we’re going to buy him although you do sense the the concern from Mr Sanchez that the players agent has been in contact. If it’s not us, it could well be someone else.

As I sit here, my sore eyes trying to convince my fingers to stop typing, Sidey urging me on, the Mail is reporting we’ve finally agreed a fee for Bentley. A £17m deal made up of England’s No.1 plus £11m cash is what they’re saying as Brad Fri-dell looks to be heading to Villa. With both this and the Berbatalk, should they be correct that the fees have been agreed, then expect the players to follow very, very quickly. Pre-season is under way and both Dimi and David so badly want their moves.

According to the same piece and many others, Roque Santa Cruz has become yet another of the Perfect One’s top targets in order to head our splendid midfield - should the latest deal come true - although I’m not sure how happy Incy Wincey Guvnor will feel about us ducking back in for Slackburn’s other star player.

But while the agents and their fax machines - do they really still use fax machines? - work through the night, the players sleep safe and sound - well, at least the Tottenham ones do. The arsenal players wake up in cold sweats at any movement of the chair they’ve jammed underneath the bedroom doorhandles. But that’s another story.

Yes, the Spurs sleep safe and warm in the comforting glow of their 8-0 drubbing of local Spanish ameoba club Tavernes; a game in which Johnny Two Saints picked up two and Psycho Pekhart, one. It’s a good start but easy enough on the Iberian Peninsula. We’ll see how the little Mexican deals with a icy mid-winter trip up to the North East. I’ll bet he’s a glove wearer.

Take not notice of the goals scored in this game. I’ve just read the full report. It contains the words “Lennon powered home the header”.

The strangeness of this life cannot be measured: in trying to produce my own death, I was elevated to the status of a living bagel.

The Bagel.

Nice article Bagel……Dances with Wolves i believe??? hahaha.
I would’ve loved to have seen lil Aaron’s header. Haha. So you rekon Berba’s gone for sure hey? 28m….we can buy some class with that. Who would you like to see up front next season if both Keane and Berba go……and if you had 50m at your disposal?

  2. Oi oi Says:

    and champions league to offer?

  3. The Bagel Says:

    Very good spot BY.

I think Dimi’s off some time, before September but it’s so bloody hard to take any news seriously at the moment. How many days have we read reports of offers being accepted only to be rubbished the next day as both deals have seemed today.

For £50m - and I suppose them wanting to come may have to be a factor as well, Oi Oi - hmmm, tricky.

Torres would be right up there but we’d need £30m or so to be accepted and that wouldn’t leave enough change after we bribed him with £120k/week.

I’d take the Horse. It’d be money down the drain given age but if we’re playing a lone striker, I can think of few poachers better than he.

The tricky thing is that Berbatov is ideal really. I’d take chance on Podolski but I’ve a feeling he’s said he’ll go back to Cologne.

David Villa would be good but I’ve a nasty feeling that he wouldn’t cope too well in the Prem.

I’ve always liked Huntelaar. I think he’d thrive over here but we may have a job persuading him that Spurs is the club for him. Still, he’s young. He could be talked around.

    Ok, here it is:

Huntelaar for £25m or so and and Arseshaven (until tainted) for £20m. Then stick the remaining £5m down as a deposit for Obefemi Martins. Then we’ve got the poacher, the No.10 and lone striker covered as well any combo.

How about anyone else out there?

    The Bagel.

  4. Hornchurch Yids Says:

With a name like Arseshaven (sp) that bloke is destined to play for the scum.

  5. RedRum Says:

I’ve a feeling this Arsyshaving bloke is going to be a bit of a damp squib to be honest. A bit like El Hadji Diouf; played great for a few games in a world cup, came to Liverpool for a decent bit of money and, apart from 2 goals in his first game, was basically pants with a serious attitude problem.

I like the look of Martins jib tho, very strong and quick and Podolski looked a real player as well.. I’d take those two for sure. The Horse, much as I hate him as an ex-scum player, is quality and still has a few seasons left in him.

I seem to remember Huntelaar being a bit of a mercenary… Wasnt he the one who posed for photos with a rival teams shirt while playing (and under contract) for someone else in order to engineer a move that never happened? That kind of stuff always annoys me…

As for Torres, we wouldnt sell him for 50m let alone 30!!

  6. sputnik Says:

Think i’d wisely spend the money on Arseshavin, pairing Marcus Bent with Darren, Yuri Zhirkov, Stefan Kuntz and Nicky Butt. Obviously Andres Palop between the sticks

may as well have some commentary comedy to entertain us!

go on - have quick simulation of this dream team

  7. The Futures Bright, the futures lillywhite Says:

If both Keane and Berba Leave we can kiss goodbye to any hopes of a Champions League spot.

  8. SouthLondonYid Says:

Would everyone stop fuckin’ talkin about Keano leavin. You’re as bad as the fuckin red-tops, and Mail. Keane is goin nowhere.
As for reports of 4-5-1, this is more ignorant speculation from journos who got picked last (if at all) in the play ground. 4-3-3 is a possibility- a formation in which a target man with pace (Duh, BENT) could play down the middle with Keano and either Dos Santos or Lennon on the other side. Dos Santos played on the left of a 4-4-2 ish formation last night. You will also notice Keane was paired with Bent last night (forth-coming seasons partnership?), Berbat-off with Pecker-wood.
We will all have a better idea of who’s playing where at the Feyenoord tournament.
Other than that, good article. Arshavin is not worth the money plus would not come to a team outside the champions league.

  9. The Futures Bright, the futures lillywhite Says:

    So i’m a red-top am I SouthLondonYid?

  10. Oi oi Says:

Well, following Lord Wenger’s lead, I’d have to stick with youth, I’d go for Bojan at Barcelona - I’ve never seen such a cool finisher.

As for Martins - when he was 17 we played him in the CL and he was fantastic - but who really knows how old he is ?

  11. SouthLondonYid Says:

The future bright, the future lillywhite: re-read my post and delete yours as applicable. Apology accepted in anticipation. I have no beef with fellow yids - there is a bigger war. . . . (!)

  12. Dude Says:

Please just no pavlovchenckos dog.. Keano is not leaving. We wont find a replacement for berba. Might as well stick to bent and get a cheaper unknown 3rd striker. Lets hope we hope we do our business before the berba deal is done to avoid paying inflated prices.

  13. The Cage Says:

I am still confident both Berbatov and Keane will stay and see the press stuff mostly as an attempt by our rivals to unsettle us. Probably only a couple of nuggets of truth in the mountain of reporter speculation : Fergie wants Berbatov but will not pay Levy’s price and Rafa wants Keane, because he is worried we might nick fourth place. Ramos wants to keep both and I believe Levy will back him all the way on that. If this had started in May I would give it more credibility but with only just over four weeks to kick off I doubt we will drop the ball now.

  14. Pandy Says:

Oioi, Bojan would not join anyone else even if he was allowed to leave, which would take insane amounts of money. He’s at a new Barcelona and he’s wanted as one of their starting strikers. Being 18 (?) and having the prospect of starting for arguably Europe’s biggest club is something no-one could turn down.

I like Martins but don’t rate hi mall too highly, a bit like an improved, more attacking Lennon. Pace but little substance. He can use both feet and has a powerful shot and would be ideal for this 4-5-1 that has been bandied about. I don’t think he’s good enough for the top four, yet, at least.

Huntelaar is very good and I think he would also slot in well to Spurs’ lineup but there is almost no chance of him joining any other English club than Man Utd or at the very least a top 4 club.

…I still think Cissé would be a good shout. Yes, Liverpool’s cripple, Djibril Cissé.

While we’re in Marseille, we can pick up Lorik Cana for DM as well :D.

  15. Pandy Says:

I’d be happy to see Berbatov leave for £28m. He is pretty shite for 90% of the time, if he is in a sulky mood and I think not selling him will only make him even less happy and his price will fall. I’d rather be done with this whole saga and have Ramos do a Kanouté on someone and make them a top class striker, or make them even better. See: Djibril Cissé, who said a few months ago that the English style of play suits him and has allegedly bought a mansion somewhere in the country.

  16. Dude Says:

Pandy please dont mention france next thing we know commolli brings us another zokora. And kabab.

  17. Ali the Yid Says:

Pandy, I, like the rest of us, hated watching him walking with his head down sulking, but to say Berba was “pretty shite for 90% of the time” is way off. His first touch and ability to find keane — either with his head with a flick off Robbo’s long drop kicks, or from tight spaces in side the box — was a delight to watch. They scored a lot of goals together last year and Berba had a big hand in many others. He will be missed.

  18. Ali the Yid Says:

….and Cisse? For fuck’s sake. Talk about premadonnas.

  19. Pandy Says:

He wasn’t shit 90% of the time. That IS way off. He was shit 90% of the time when he was pissed off. In games where he obviously couldn’t be arsed. Even when he was upset he still had the flashes of motivated Berba. In most of the games he was alright and therefore wasn’t shit for 90% of the time… sorry for the misunderstanding lol.

Cissé - fair comment but he’s still good and wouldn’t be expecting to go to a top 4 team. At least not straight away… and he’d probably start so he shouldn’t have any reason to sulk although he would probably find one.

  20. SouthLondonYid Says:

Rather keep and start bent than buy cisse. Cisse is not an improvement on what we have, therefore a needless buy.

  21. Ali the Yid Says:

Cisse recovered after breaking his leg in 04 and I agree he is still good, but I would rather see someone like David Villa — who can get stuck in without all the Gallas-esque (Oi oi will be after me for that) drama.

  22. Pandy Says:

David Villa is too unrealistic a target, if he ends up making a U-turn and announces he wants to leave, the biggest European clubs will be onto him and if we’re in the market for another striker who wont be sought after by the biggest CL clubs, players of Cissé’s stature - especailly those who were not at Euro 2008, would be good targets.

  23. Ali the Yid Says:

You’re right about Villa. Its just wishful thinking as grieve the loss of Berbatov.

Maybe Bent would do in 4-3-2-1?

  24. Pandy Says:

Yeah, I have the feeling that to score goals you just need to be able to get into some sort of space and finish. With the new and creative midfield we have, Bent, supposing he was our lone striker, would be able to net quite a few. After all, i think his best season for Charlton was when he was playing lone striker for a majority of the time.

  25. Wilson Says:

Oi Oi I know this is a Spurs blog and your a gooner but you spend a lot of time here and I’ve never seen you spare a few words for the Bagels quality of writing…surely you can find it in you.

  26. RedRum Says:

I think Cisse would be a good option for you. He’s still very highly thought of at Liverpool but it was bad timing when he joined. Houllier had tracked him for 2 years and then left the club just after Cisse had signed, he didnt fit the way Rafa wanted to play and got shoved onto the wing most of the time. Fair play to him tho he never once complained about it and just put his head down and got on with the job. Stick him in the middle and he’s very dangerous, gets caught offside a fair bit tho…

Pandy - He bought a mansion in Frodsham and also the title of Lord of the Manor of Frodsham. His decision to refuse the Cheshire Forest Hunt permission to hunt on his land got a few more brownie points too!

  27. Pandy Says:

I heard a rumour somewhere that he bought the title haha.
Would be brilliant to have a Lord playing for us, at least we would have a title to our club’s name :P.

We would have the CC and Cissé, Liverpool would have the reserves league… and Arsenal would have…. erm…. CL footy, but that’s not a title…. yeah they’d have nothing at all. :D

  28. Pandy Says:

Just to humour Oioi and take away his petty fun, we’ll say that the CC is a reserves trophy. It’s still more than Arsenal won. Don’t even start with the ladies’ who are manages by your kit man.

  29. Ilai Says:

    Cisse would be Klass.

  30. Ali the Yid Says:

    more like berkshire hunt.

  31. Oi oi Says:

    Wilson,

Perhaps I have a shrine to Bagel at home ?

Perhaps I dislike his style of writing ?

Perhaps I congratulated Bagel via email ?

Thanks for the prompt to blow sunshine up the Bagel’s hole, invitation declined.

  32. Oi oi Says:

The Arsenal Ladies is indeed run by Vic Akers, the Mighty Arsenal kit man, and I imagine he does a fantastic job.

Personally I can’t get with ladies football.

Maybe it’s just a sexist thing, perhaps my victorian values are too strong, my wife doesn’t work, she stays at home and looks after the house, I’m kinda the hunter gatherer, she’s the nest builder.

But football is a mans game, primitive, territorial, a glipse of a less civilised / civil society. A game that inspires raw passions, inspiring deeds of heroism and failure on the field, but boundried by agreed rules.

I imagine the birth of football being just as neanderthal, 2 teams starting at each end of the town, kinda like 1000 a side british bulldog (showing my age now).

By women are by nature too caring / too concerned / too civil to give the game that edge. I’m not saying they cant be vicious, just they cant compete with mans natural inclination toward fair play.

  33. sputnik Says:

i dunno - have you seen those Arsenal ladies?

    i wouldn’t mess

  34. The Cage Says:

The cream cheese in the bagel for me are the match reports. Like all good ones the focus is off the pitch rather than on. How often is that simple point missed elswhere. Nailing the songs to incidents and meet his neighbours through his words tell me far more than ‘75th minute Oggins replaced by Boggins…’. It’s all good but them’s the best bits for me.

  35. Ali the Yid Says:

I can’t wait for the season and the match reports to begin again.

This transfer milarky is doing my head in. Capel’s on the radar screen again. Berbatov’s cross becasue DL’s stalling his transfer! Keane would look good in red! Blah blah, bah…..its such a load of cobblers.

  36. Dude Says:

The rumour mills are driving me nuts. Somebody wake me up when something actually happens.

  37. Adie Says:

so it looks like we will be playing Bent upfront as the lone striker all season with no cover. Is that the plan?

  38. Jimmy Bluto Says:

“Robbies off”, “Robbies staying”. “Capels coming”, “no offers received for capel”. “Espanyol star Luis Garcia is not a target for Tottenham, according to Spurs boss Juande Ramos.”

It’s all giving me a headache- i’m with Dude- wake me up when it’s all done and dusted.

  39. Wattson Says:

Not a big fan of Ramos’ words in the media today.

“We will see what happens there, but we are talking about two very important players.”

That sounds like… “The players want to go and if the price is right they most likely will”.

  40. The Futures Bright, the futures lillywhite Says:

I believe Liverpool are trying to unsettle us with this Keane saga: the same case with Barry as Spurs And Villa are probably the two clubs who can challenge the Scousers to 4th place.

  41. TobytheYid Says:

United have lodged a formal bid for an ‘unnamed’ Spurs player. Gosh. Who could that be??

I have to say, Liverpool failing to get Barry could be bad news in terms of us holding on to Keane.

I still can’t see the logic in potentially selling 2 quality players to Liverpool and Man Utd - and now Chimbondabonda linked to Everton/Newcastle - why are we bolstering the squads of teams we either want to compete with, or are directly competing against?! AAARRGGHH!

  42. mitch Says:

Is Keano really a life-long Liverpool fan (as reported in The Sun, I think)?

Regardless, I agree with Wattson - I did not like how coy Ramos was about Keane and Berbatov. How can he be so dismissive about the possibility of losing the only saving grace of our team last year?

Take Keane and Berba off this team last year and how many points would we have had? I am not convinced that our signings so far could counteract a loss of that magnitude.

  43. Oi oi Says:

“as Spurs And Villa are probably the two clubs who can challenge the Scousers to 4th place.” ??????

  44. The Futures Bright, the futures lillywhite Says:

    Yes.

Well done Oi oi, maybe your not as thick as everyone thought.

  45. Wattson Says:

Berba is as good as gone but I do really hope Keano stays. I guess at the end of all this its in Juande we trust.

  46. Ali the Yid Says:

If he goes, which seems very likely, I hope Berba goes to Spain and not Man Ure.

  47. ifoonthree Says:

You know it’s a farce when Studs Up does a comic strip just for it:

    http://studs-up.com/2008/07/17/dimitar-berbatov-to-manchester-united-or-what/

  48. Borat Says:

“We will not stress this situation. We are hoping to have a constructive conversation with Tottenham in the near future.”

Would ” Suck our Fat ones Fergie!” constitute a “constructive conversation with Tottenham in the near future.” ??????

  49. G Says:

“Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul “wouldn’t join Sunderland even if there was an earthquake”, according to his agent. (AFP news agency, 1342 BST)”

Might as well have said ‘fuck off roy’. Brilliant :D

  50. Dude Says:

Its official levy has said berba and keano are off.

  51. The Cage Says:

Levy just annoneced he is selling our two strikers just at the moment we are ready to challenge the big boys. gutted. :(

  52. Nick Says:

Levy has to pitch a fit now, just to make it look like SAF and Rafa cheated, and give it a ‘who needs ‘em’ appearance.

PR was well done - now go buy some effing goals.

  53. blanchflower Says:

Man — was cheering Levy on (Daniel, I was calling him, in me head) for the first part of the statement … but the slag of Berba and Keano at the end has me very sad. (Back to Levy then). I am gutted, especially about Robbie. Berbs I love as a poet, but Robbie was Spurs-passionate … after Carling Cup: “Will never leave”

    … can’t write

    … crying

    …. arse.

  54. TobytheYid Says:

Oh Fucking hell. I really kind of hoped one would stay.

In terms of making a purchase to, at least, equal the two departees - Who on earth could we get??

Assuming - and dear god it had better be - we get £40m for the two, who IS going to come to Spurs?

We really seem to be losing two strikers, Dimi is a ‘Champion’s League quality’ striker, and I rate Keane more highly. How can we replace them, when we simply CAN’T offer that yet. I say ‘yet’, but now we have also strengthened 2 of the top four sides, for fuck’s sake.

Oh and yes, we have been forced into this by two bigger clubs - Levy is right in his response - but will it have any real impact on LUFC and MUFC? Will it shite.

    /end rant

  55. TobytheYid Says:

Unless of course, this is a nice thick smokescreen to allow Levy to sell 2 big assets and balance the books… After all, Robbie’s under a longer contract - and Utd haven’t sold Ronaldo -Why don’t we just say ‘no’?

  56. wattson Says:

oh fuck. you read levys statement? we are fucked.

  57. Jayne Says:

What the hells going on? Yeah, Berba we expecteted, get someone decent in his place, but we still got Robbie who whould run his heart out for us. I thought we wernt a selling club, but you dont care about your 2 main (only) strikers, who are the best in prem, if not europe and are quite happy to sell to close rivals, and according to the papers half our first team are going as well.Ive heard of building on a team, but demolishing it and getting rid of the main foundations and off -shoots is new to me. Robbie is my hero, never been so upset since we sold Jimmy Greaves!

  58. Lily White Yank Says:

This is a problem….. I can’t imagine this is the sort of thing Ramos wants.

  59. Lily White Yank Says:

That said, strengthening ManU is not a problem- We would not be challenging them for the top 4. Strengthening the ‘Puds is not somthing I’m too interested in.

  60. The Cage Says:

Ramos said he wanted to keep both players and I really believed Levy would back him on that. Worse was that instead of just admitting he crumbled when the big boys called he puts up a smokescreen statement blaming everyone else.
Sorry to say it but Levy just dropped the ball :(

  61. sputnik Says:

Levy’s statement to me sounded like another of his clever PR stunts - after all, he could be accused of hypocrisy himself in pretty much tapping up Ramos and treating Jol so poorly not so long ago. This way he has come out with a strong and combative statement standing up to Ferguson and Benitez using equally accusatory language implied towards both players in questioning their commitment to the Spurs cause, in an effort to appease the fans and board as he goes through with the business whilst somewhat falling on his own sword. It seems like he is resigned to following through with both sales seen as both players seem set on leaving. Obviously it is Robbie we’re most upset about as no-one really saw this coming, he wouldn’t leave for another club just for CL football (like Berba would) and he has been our talisman for some time now. The fact is, we lose the fight to our competition bigtime if both sales do go through, particularly if Villa manage to keep hold of Barry and Ronaldo stays - as we’re proven to be unable to keep hold of our major assets (coupled with Carrick) and will give the impression of a selling club - if one of our player’s head can be turned. It’s a kick in the balls, I’m off to be sick ..

  62. SouthLondonYid Says:

Shut up Cage. Are you a fuckin retard? As Levy said: we told them we were NOT interested in selling. They were then illegally tapped up, hence them being reported to the PL. How can you lay any blame on Levy? Especially after what he has done for the club - Sugar spent 11mil in 10 fuckin years, we are now 11th richest club in world - richest outside CL, he has backed managers with funds. We are all fucked off with Keane for lying, but do not blame Levy. You forget that Liverpoo cant afford 18m for Barry, Keane will cost them more. It’s a huge blow to lose both, but Levy will put the cash straight back in to the market for Ramos to buy. LONG LIVE LEVY.

  63. SouthLondonYid Says:

Also, he said “as yet, no bids have been accepted”. How did he crumble moron?

  64. The Cage Says:

SouthLondonYid: You are right and I was wrong. Levy’s statement is far better than I gave credit for and he has backed our managers to a high degree and I did not credit him with that. Reading my post back it is way ott and I apologise for it. Just the frustration we all feel coming out in the wrong direction. It is not our fault that there is such a gap between the top four and the rest. Lets hope we can give them a challenge this season. Posting when hung over after bad news is a bad idea and I will not do it again.

  65. Lily White Yank Says:

Howabout we not all go crazy and call each other names… We’re all Spurs here. Save your hate for gooners and prawn sandwhich eaters.

  66. SouthLondonYid Says:

The Cage: i apologise for my tone. You are right - posting when hung over and hurting is a bad idea! Of course, i wouldn’t have been hung-over if this news hadn’t come out whilst i was in a sports bar! No hard feelings - lets just hope ramos and poyet spend Levy’s money wisely!

  67. TobytheYid Says:

Aye - Spending the income from the sales is key. Cage, you are right - Keane going was a not something many considered, and it is a shock.

Hmmm - I still stick with my earlier worries - how much will we actually get, and who can we get, of the highest possible calibre, for our dosh??

  68. Dude Says:

And hopefully not at inflated prices..can we get rid of commmmollli whiles we at it too.

  69. Oi oi Says:

Haven’t you just been hoist by your own petard, you have tapped up players in the past, Wayne Routledge, Simon Davies (including stiffing Peterborough with the sell on fee), Bostock as well as managers Graham, Ramos …. the list goes on.

    Take your medicine people.

Looks like a 4-5-1 next season with Bent leading the way to your relegation.

  70. SouthLondonYid Says:

Once again Oi Oi insists on proving to us that he knows shit. Bostock - how can we tap up a player without a contract? If we had acted illegally, wouldn’t Jordan have mentioned it in his rant? Dick. HIs problem is with the tribunal and system, not spurs. Davies came with Etherington, unaware of tapping up. The only one is Ramos. Take your fuckin AIDS medicine and stop blowing your dad, mate. The regular beating his cock gives what little brain you have is killing your brain cells at an alarming rate by the sounds of it.

  71. TobytheYid Says:

“Dimitar Berbatov has been fined a week’s wages by Tottenham manager Juande Ramos for being moody on the club’s pre-season jaunt to Spain. “(The People)

Ha! I bet he is ‘moody’. He should give up the fags aswell. Most of all, he should choose Barcelona over Man Utd.

  72. The Futures Bright,The Futures Lilywhite Says:

”Looks like a 4-5-1 next season with Bent leading the way to your relegation.”

Yeah, like you said we would get relegated last year Oi oi.

  73. Pandy Says:

I still like the idea of D. Bent being our lone striker. He scored 20+ for Charlton up top on his own with Murphy providing, imagine what he could do with Modric, Dos Santos et al providing for him.

  74. Top Yid Says:

if we sell berbatov we dont stand a chance of being in the top half. i cant see modric and santos fitting in atall. i think we will relive the name ‘rock botten tottenham’
