The Allan McGregor fan site
I suppose with our chat, that we’ve all still been enjoying this morning, I should actually give Rangers keeper Allan McGregor the full Bagel, you know, seeing as the Perfect Juan is supposedly preparing a £9m bid for the Hugh Hefner of goalies.
Allan James McGregor was born on the streets of Edinburgh. Well, in one of the hospitals more likely but it makes him sound tough but tough he must be because at 6′ tall he’s effectively a midget in the keeping world and he’s not even 12 stone either; 11st 9lbs is what I’m reading and that makes him about the size of a Chimbonda minus the corn rolls. Here’s his head…

…practicing for his next lucky girl.
Little Al turned up Rangers in 1998 touted as one of the best keeping prospects in the world which is a serious claim for someone to make of 6′ 16-year-old. Unfortunately, a wrist injury took him out of action for quite some time and I’m sure we can all imagine how he sustained that one and doubtless couldn’t help but slow down the healing process.
For the last couple of years he’s been farmed out at a couple of smaller Scottish clubs until recently when all the Rangers goalies seemed to get injured at once, hmmmm, and like a young sappling - well 26 by now - McGregor found the space to flourish and flourish he has between the pipes at Ibrox.
It looked for a while that Horny Al was going back to the reserves when first choice keeper Lionel Letizi returned from the injury but amazingly the frenchman was straight back to the treatment room after an incident in their warm-up game against Hapoel Tel Aviv. Hmmmm.
Perhaps more revealing are than any thing I can say are these clips. Let’s check out the good Al first…
Never seen a save quite euligised in the same manner before, yes, it’s good work.
The fans seem to like him, even if their song is a little basic…
I’m sure Oog and Keving would put that one down to typical stupid Rangers fans, but if you two really want to get your teeth stuck into your least favourite bunch in the world, how about this for a “typical” Rangers player…
Best of all though are the words of one of his own. Now bare in mind Setanta has only been around for a year, so these words have to refer to a modern day Allan McGregor and that’s after he was voted Rangers Player of the Season 2007…
Yes, I think we can safely say on examination of all the evidence today that Allan McGregor can get fucked.
Unfortunately, I seem, to have spent my entire time researching Allan McGregor, fascinating car crash of a character that he is. However, I would like to briefly confirm our thoughts on Richard “Crumpets” Dunne who has come out today with the news of a new, and very good manager, at City, and said:
“I will have to wait and see now which way the club is going to go.”
And if you ask me, all he wants to know is: who will I be pairing with at the back next season. If Hughes can keep Micah Richards or at least supply another decent centre half from Dunne to work with, then no doubt he’ll be City until he dies or next season, anyway.
Oh, by the way, did anyone notice the very quiet releasing of Spurs skills coach Ricardo Moniz? I think it was last week there was a footnote sized piece in some disclaimer on a discarded sweet wrapper blowing about near WHL that read they let him go. Shame that. I quite liked him. I had a chat with the old editor of Hotspur magazine - splendid chap named Paul Winslow - who had a day’s tuition from Moniz. Said it improved his football no end. Ah well, trust in Juande and the glory will follow.
Right, you lot. Get your arses on Twitter. I’ve set one up under The_Bagel. Set up your own profile and “follow” me. Make sure you follow me via SMS too, it’s free. Then, if I or anyone else gets any confirmed signing news we can “Twitter” it for instant Spurs news messages to our mobiles. We can use it mid-season to for goal flashes and team news and stuff. Any let’s give it a try. Sign up and we’ll work it out as we go.
My parents were Hungarian immigrants. They took the name bagel ’cause they thought it sounded more American! Â

This sounds promising…
DOS SANTOS CLOSE TO SPURS MOVE
By Mike McGrath, PA Sport
Giovani dos Santos appears to be edging closer to a move from Barcelona to
Tottenham.
The 19-year-old Mexico midfielder told Spanish newspaper Sport that he expects
to be wearing a Spurs shirt when the new campaign gets under way.
“Next season I will be playing for Tottenham,” he said.
And hilarious if it’s true that Ronaldo has said he wants to join Real Madrid.

Back up and running. Heard jony two saints is next!

Last Season we spent countless millions and got Boateng, Kaboul, Bent
So far we’ve spent less and gotten Modric and Dos Santos.
Dos Santos costs almost HALF a Kaboul!
Comolli’s shitness, like the enraged glow from the faces of jealous gooners, is now so radiantly evident that I can’t even glance towards London without catching a glimpse of its power.

I am pleased to see that Levy and Co. are balking at the 10 million price tag for McGregor. That’s too much for him. And gossip there’s interest in a crap keeper like Hans Leitert is disturbing, if its true.
I hope we don’t end up with a shitty keeper after all that has been done to build up the defense and midfield since January.

I’m pretty lost in this transfer mess, but what happened with Amelia? Livorno’s relegated, so presumably, he could come at a good price. And he’s Italy’s #2 only to Buffon so that speaks pretty well of him, no?

That Modric bloke - kinda looks a bit average to me - not sure he’s worth £17M.
Is he this years Darren Bent ?

Hi Bagel
I’ve just signed up to Twitter, hopefully I’ve done it right, so I’m looking forward to the latest update my good man

Modric-average?
He Played a blinder yesterday against Austria.
June 9th, 2008 at 10:50 am
Playing a ‘blinder’ as a central midfielder against a very mediocre Austrian team, you would perhaps expect him to create some chances, which he didn’t, be in control of the game, in which he kept disappearing, and to win better than a early penalty.
As I said, very average - big eye opener for him in the PL.
He looks a little lightweight too, but I expect Paul Robinson can help him with that.

Thanks for your expert view of his performance. I imagine if it doesn’t work out for Modric in the centre, we’ll play him on the wing.

I seem to recall Oi Oi slating peoples lack of imagination by using the old CTRL+C and CTRL+V function. There is something distinctly similar with his posts here and the blog written on Arseblog today. Unless of course Oi Oi you are indeed the Arseblogger.
For quotes sake I will use copy and paste this once.
“…BBC were trying to talk up Modric yesterday but he looked distinctly average and very lightweight. Certainly not a £17m player based on the evidence of yesterday.”
June 9th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Modric could have scored a hattrick of sissor kicks from the halfway line and I’m pretty sure you would have found something to pick at Oi Oi.
June 9th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Well, I suppose he’s not as good as Flamini, the world class arse…..oh wait he left a while ago didn’t he.
Coys!
June 9th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
Good spot Watttson.
Oi Oi (the fool) also nicked a quote from the chap that writes Arseblog when Modric joined. On Arseblog it was said about Modric after signing that ” he is now officially a cunt”. And lo and behold, Oi Oi popped up the next day and posted the exact same comment. I couldn’t be arsed to mention it at the time as it just seemed par for the cousre for the plum that is Oi Oi.
June 9th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Maybe he will be as good as Flamini - a one season wonder, demand loads of cash and go to Milan to play CL football, someone forgot to tell him there are 2 teams in Milan, and only one is gonna play CL football next term - oops.
I guess Arseblogger has the same expert eye as myself - I’ve shamelessly plugged his site here before, his blog being voted the best online sports blog last year, a well deserved accolade.
If Modric had managed to score from a header on the half way line, I would have congratulated him, similarly, any back heeled goal from his own penalty area would have recieved praise.
The flip side of that coin is slating him for playing badly against a poor Austrian side.
June 9th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
No, you don’t have the same expert eye as Arseblogger. You just rip his comments and post it on here as your own.
As i’ve said before, keep up the good work.
June 9th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
But to justify slating him for playing badly, surely he has to play badly…
