John Bostock and the London bust up

This is ridiculous.

11.47am - Tottenham Hotspur FC official site

Bostock Joins Club! (I added the !)

We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with John Bostock to join the Club.

Then some background blurb that we already know and in not nearly enough detail. Then some words from our sponsor Mr It’s my make or break summer, Damien Comolli. He said:

“We are very pleased that John has decided to join us. We know he has the talent but we also know he is only 16 and so we will not rush him. He will have time to develop and will be working within a very talented development squad.”

And then with a gun at his temples as we bend him over and brand his hide with a cokerel, our new teen sensation to go with the collection said:

“I am definitely ready to make this move and Spurs is the team I wanted to join. I feel this is a club with a great future and this is where I want to be to develop my potential and improve as a player.”

Now, the only trouble is that 12.09pm on the Crystal Palace official website, they posted:

No Bostock Agreement !!? (again, punctuation all mine)

Contrary to reports from Tottenham Hotspur FC regarding John Bostock joining the North London Club, Crystal Palace FC would like to announce that no agreement has been reached for the services of the 16 year old and he is still registered with Crystal Palace Football Club.

Right. So, what the hell’s going on. Well, I don’t know but I’ll tell you this: he will be ours whether it’s today, tomorrow or next week because of what the kid himself has said. Unless, those words were illegally tape recorded under some negotiation table or another then Palace won’t really want to keep him and his heart will be officially set on our club. Job done.

The real issue is probably money and the veins in Warnock’s temples. He’ll be getting all Northern and “in my day” about it and generally going blue in the face until we agree to pay £5m plus several loaves of Hovis and an eccles cake to keep him quiet.

The deal that I’m actually worried about is the one for Barcelona’s boy wonder, Johnny Two Saints. When asked by the Mexican press how he felt about Chelsea’s courting, he said:

“Yes, they spoke with my representative and they have always been following me, watching my way and they are interested in my services; I would like to play there, they are a great team.”

Now, even if he does end up playing for us, what kind of language is that? He’ll need some serious disciplining from Master Freund and Sheringham at Yiddo school but after several hundred lines a few choruses of “You’ve got no history”, “That’s why you’re wankers” and the wonderfully double-negative “You never won fuck all” I’m sure we can change that quote to…

“Yes, they spoke with my representative, who I have since shot, and they have always been following me, so I have had a court order issued; I never would like to play there, they are a bunch of cunts.”

Speaking of which, here’s a piece of genius from my buddy over at Girt Big Stick

The good news is that the Mail are reporting we’ve all but bagged Johnny for £12.5m but and how long is it going to take for reports in a Mexican paper to get over to us via a bad Spanish translation? All the same, I won’t feel comfortable until that one’s in the bag. Let’s see how the land lies come Monday morning when I’m back from my dirty weekend in Brighton with LB. Stick of rock anyone?

I don’t give a frog’s fat ass who went through what. We need money! Hey, Russ, wanna look through Aunt Edna’s bagel?

The Bagel.

So… John Bostock has agreed to join us. Crystal Palace say he is still registered with them. Obviously Palace know whats going on, and have put this statement on their website as an opening tactic in the negotiations. He’s basically ours subject to whatever fee is agreed (or agreed for us) with Palace.

I look forward to him being good for us for a year or so round about 2010, and then joining Chelsea…

I also think we won’t get Johnny 2 saints. There’s just something that doesn’t sound convincing about it (as I mentioned to the bagel even before the player started licking chelsea’s arse)

    Yours pessimistically,

    Oog

  2. Chimbondage Says:

Bostock has not signed a professional contract with Palace, meaning he is free to decide where he wants to go. A tribunal will decide the fee.

Palace have no rights over the player.

Anyone would think Simon Jordan was being awkward……

  3. Wattson Says:

Yeh I agree Oog. Dos Santos just seems like the sort of player who will wind up on Chelseas bench collecting paychecks.

Its kinda funny that we release a statement saying we’ve reached an agreement with Bostock. Nothing in their mentions we reached an agreement with Crystal Palace

  4. Jeff Kaye Says:

If they don’t want to die for Tottenham Hotspur we don’t f..ing want them. I don’t care how f…ing good they are. Let the f…ing wankers go and play for Dubai and wallow in as much cash as they want.

  5. Oi oi Says:

If Crystal Palace hold his registration, then he’s their player, that’s the FA law as it stands, he can’t play the game at any level without their sayso.

And if I were a bitter and twisted spuds hating Mighty Arsenal fan, I’d take this opportunity to pour scorn on your clubs administration and point out once again what an utter lack of class your club has.

    But, I’m not bitter, so I won’t.

  6. Wilson Says:

    Yeah?

  7. Dude Says:

    Of course not koi koi

  8. TechnoLogic Says:

Yes and we all know how much stead that “The club which holds the registration” is held in nowadays. Player wants the move, he’ll move.

Was never convinced by Two Saints anyway.. 28 appearances last season with 3 goals and “looking a bit like ronaldinho” doesn’t impress me that much…

i wait to be proven wrong though ;-)

  9. DavidCohen1954 Says:

Is this guy actually any good? I want Dos Santos, Eto’o, Henry and Messi? We have the money and we’re playing in europe thanks to the glorious Carling Cup win

  10. Oi oi Says:

What planet is DavidCohen on ?

I imagine Messi waking up with his sunday papers after dreaming of playing for Englands 11th best club and can think of nothing better than playing in the Uefa cup.

  11. Didu Akembe Says:

I agree with David Cohen. Why not also add Benzema, Ronaldinho, Fabregas, and even Cristiano Ronaldo to our world class league cup holders squad.

  12. Wilson Says:

    Extract from the Mirror:

” Others on the way out include England keeper Paul Robinson, who is heading to Middlesbrough, and young midfielder Gary O’Hara. ”

    Gary?

  13. Brownpants Says:

Jamie’s brother, plays in the youth team. apparantly Palace want him for 5 mil but General Levy says no way. . .

  14. Wattson Says:

Please give me some more entertainment Bagel. Im bored out of my mind at work.

  15. Wilson Says:

Facebook poker, Wattson. It’s the only way.

  16. 1992Yido Says:

”This is just another trophy yeah, that could have been like put on our like silver cabinet yeah”

    Hahaha lol what a cunt.

  17. Oi oi Says:

    Didu Akembe,

Surely you need Kaka as well, dont forget Carlos Puyol as CB cover might as well pick up Bojan while you’re in Barcelona.

I guess that you should just pick up Torres for some up front fire power and Gerrard to cover for Tom Huddlestone.

    Anyone I missed out ?

Of course, you’ll need a ‘purists vision’ signing, how about picking up say, Jason Roberts, for £16.5M and see if he fits in, we can call this the Darren Bent maneuver.

  18. 1992Yido Says:

Oi oi, I don’t know why your mocking us over buying new players so much; what have ar5ena1 done so far?

Fuck All, much like your silverwear in the last 5 years.

  19. Wilson Says:

Oi Oi I’m pretty sure Didu is a windup gooner.

  20. Pandy Says:

    Didu Akembe…

    a) What are the chances it is another one of Ki ki, sorry Oi oi, wait… which one… I’m confused. What are the chances Didu Akembe is another alias for the sad bitter Arsenal fan who has nothing better to do but comment on Spurs blogs.

    b) This guy is another newcomer joke to beefbagel. I suppose when both spurs and beefbagel have such a massive fanbase there are bound to be a few cunts lurking around…

  21. Oi oi Says:

    1992Yido,

Our silverwear in the last 5 years includes a league title now that you ask.

If you define that as ‘Fuck all’, then I can only imagine that you feel some comfort from the fact 6puds have won ‘Fuck all’ since the early 60’s.

As for what we have done in the transfer market - we’ve maintained our dignity but not wasting club money trekking to chase unrealistic targets.

  22. Hornchurch Yids Says:

How has buying Gallas and making him club captain helped you to maintain your dignity?

You often accuse us of being deluded. You really should look at yourdelf and some of the things that you are posting on here.

  23. Oi oi Says:

Buying Gallas was our only victory in the cole saga, we didn’t want to sell cole and and don’t agree that tapping up players (or managers - tut tut 6puds) is correct, so negotiated a player that chelsea needed at the time.

His choice as club captain continued in the vein of our club captains being defenders, the great Titi being unable to inspire the team when he relied so much on his own confidence.

I agree with the sentiments, but cannot agree it has been a success, but don’t see an alternative at the moment, though perhaps Senderos or Cesc might make great captains in the future.

I fail to see your point about Gallas and how it has not helped us maintain dignity.

Levy on the other hand chased Eto’o all over Barcelona, when even my Granny knew he wasn’t going to sign for the 6puds, that’s just not very dignified, he was clearly played by the player and/or his agent and should have known better.

  24. oog Says:

Either he was chasing Eto’o or he was actually chasing Dos Santos and the media storm about Eto’o was something that was i) out of his control and ii) not an issue if Eto’o wasn’t in fact the main target.

Maybe he was in Barcelona to find out about both. Maybe he did make enquiries. If so - what is he meant to do? Stop the media reporting anything they feel like saying? Easier said than done.

If we were messing up the Nasri transfer in the way that the gooners seem to be, you would be accusing us of acting without dignity and chasing him around Lyon.

Point is its practically impossible to make signatures / enquiries / do anything in the world of football these days without intense media speculation. Its usually impossible to tell what media speculation is rubbish (most of it, though) and what isn’t. I choose to believe none of it (or even read too much about it) until someone is officially announced as having signed. You seem to choose to believe anything that you can twist into anti-Spurs rhetoric.

I think the point about Gallas and dignity is that when your captain throws a hissy fit in the centre circle, its not very dignified. I am absolutely certain that if a Spurs player did this, you would still “fail to see” the point about dignity!

I don’t claim Spurs have always acted with dignity! The sacking of Jol was clearly deluded. But lets not pretend dignity is something that any football club shows very much of these days, Arsenal included.

  25. oog Says:

I meant “undignified” rather than “deluded”! As I remember, I was more in favour of it than most of my fellow yids!

  26. Yid of the Norf Says:

So, the Bostock lad, is he ours yet or what? Surely if his contract ran up until 31st May, then he’s a free man now. Besides, when are we likely to see him?

I can’t believe it, no stadium tours at The Lane this summer. I was planning to take Mini Yid down this month, but apparently no tours this entire summer

  27. Oi oi Says:

    oog,

You know what I’m going to point out next:

So, do you believe Bostock is a signing, after he was officially announced, well, announced on the official website.

Also, I wasn’t just refering to the sacking of Jol, the unwritten rule of lets no poach managers mid season has been broken by 6puds several times.

The media is a great resource for my arguments, I love picking bones from the remnants of yesterdays gutter press and serving up a feast of anti-6puds rhetoric, garnished with larconic irony and lashings and lashings of Mighty Arsenal smugness.

I thought the Gallas episode at Birmingham was absolutely unbefitting a club captain at the Mighty Arsenal. To act like that while the ball is still in play is completely wrong, I can’t imagine Big Tone ever doing anything like that - inexcusable.

  28. Ali the Yid Says:

I remember Sammy Nelson once showed the Ar5ena1 supporters the deginity they derserve after scoring at boths ends.

  29. oog Says:

I think that Bostock is ours to the extent that Crystal Palace probably do. In other words, I imagine he’s signed some kind of binding agreement with us and the registration issue is a formality. Hence we’ve put it on the website. Not sure I see the problem, and I imagine Palace, whilst not happy to lose an apparently gifted player, are being blustery as a tactic rather than because they think we’ve done anything wrong.

There might be a morality issue, but no more than with Fabregas, Merida etc.. We’re exploiting a rule to our advantage - its a non issue as far as I can tell. Compensation is yet to be agreed but we’ve obviously decided that we’re prepared to pay whatever amount is negotiated.

Agree with you about Gallas. Will look out for the laconic irony…

  30. Wattson Says:

Yid of the Norf - any reason why stadium tours have been stopped this year? Never been to be honest, but it sounds like something that would be good.

  31. Yid of the Norf Says:

    Wattson

Apparently no stadium tours throughout the closed season due to some sort of construction work going on. Obviously not the large scale construction work most of us Spurs fans desire, possibly General Levy’s plan to move his drinks trolley six yards closer to the pitch or something

Mini Yid & I have never done a stadium tour, Mini Yid due to the fct that he’s growing up too far away & me for the fact that when you live close enough you assume that you always will have the chance to take in a tour some time or other, now I live in darkest lancashire, I pine for The Lane, I miss it so much… sob!
