Proper Modric footage and the Makoun Mystery

While the world still echoes with the possibilities of a Berbatov/Eto’o swap, I’ve found a much more interesting topic of conversation. After all, we talked about that one days ago.

Today, we have a mystery on our hands, a treasure hunt, and the prize is a Cameroonian defensive midfielder by the name of Jean II Makoun. I can only assume that its “II” in the middle. I did read an article with a font that one make a “1″, an “L” and an “I” all look the same. Still, I’m not sure if that’s “Jean the second Makoun” or “Jean two Makoun”.

Anyway, this is what Jean Two’s agent Jean-Christophe Thouvenel said in an interview with Setanta…

“The discussions are very advanced with a London club. It is not West Ham, no. Tottenham? Well, I cannot reveal it to you right now. To give you a clue, without naming the club, their manager is not English, they are a very good club that have a very ambitious project, they want to attack well and defend well.”

Now, as far as I can see, that only leaves two clubs Tottenham and arsenal.

Now a lot of gooners out there will have their arms up in the air right now but you must put them down. We are a club with a very ambitious project but so are you. It’s a burning ambition of yours to actually win something and you it know is. What’s more, you may attack well but you do not defend well. 6-2 against Derby says it all.

Actually, there is one other club that it could be, QPR. Now that is an ambitious project and I’m sure they’d be thrilled to either attack or defend well right now.

My hunch is us though. The reason is because Thouvenel says he’s been in talks with Man City and it seems we have an identical transfer target list to them, either that or they’re in talks with every player in the world. Actually, it wouldn’t surprise me.

So, what do we know of Jean Two? Well, there can be little doubt about his on-field function with a nick-name like “the cleaner” and it’s easy to compare him to the likes of Makelele at just 5′8″ and 11st. Here’s his head…

..as the keeper attempts to pluck it from his shoulders.

The 24-year-old is currently at French side, Lille, but it’s understood that there is an agreement in place that he’ll make his big money move this summer, having helped his employers through a difficult time.

This isn’t the world’s most exciting goal. What do you expect from a defensive mid/ But you got to appreciate not only his desire but his performance as he out-jumps a six-foot defender. How many goals has Didier Zee scored?

Lastly, Mitch gave us a fantastic link to some Modric footage. Thank you, Mitch and if you didn’t see it yesterday, don’t miss it today. That’s some serious show-running.

I live to see you eat that bagel, but I hope you leave enough room for my fist because I’m going to ram it into your stomach and break your god-damn spine!

The Bagel.

“their manager is not English, they are a very good club that have a very ambitious project, they want to attack well and defend well”

isnt that most clubs? Everyone wants to attack well and defend well - the key is actually doing it.

  4. Adie Says:

Why are the Man City fans upset. They may well get a better manager and next season win the Carling cup and finish 11th….

  5. Aaron P Says:

As far as I know, QPR may be very rich but they certainly aren’t ‘very good’… lol.

Also, despite all the rumours, I still can’t see Eto’o playing for spurs. No-one has actually explained his reason for leaving, as far as I know and i think Barca are basically qualified for next year’s CL and they are one of the biggest (if not the biggest) clubs in the world. Also if Ronaldinho has made public that hes leaving, they surely wouldn’t want to let another well-established attacker go… unless he really has been terrible this season.

Is there an obvious reason that I clearly haven’t picked up on? If so please tell me lol because I, like every Spurs fan would love to see Eto’o at WHL, I just don’t wanna raise my hopes falsely.

Well if he goes to QPR, which I doubt, it seems he will have the
(t)rusty hands of RRRRadek Cerny behind him in goal next season.

    Farewell Cerny!
    Hello Kameni?
Or will Rob Green be the new No.1?

  14. RosieRoo Says:

Quite like the new kits. Glad we appear to have ditched the banana yellow colour scheme anyway.

  19. Johnny Two Saints and the de-fence four - Spurs Blog and Forum - Tottenham Hotspur Football Club Says:

[...] Another. Makoun, Jean Two, was the geezer I couldn’t remember yesterday. We’re still in for him but the stories are all about him and arsenal. His agent is probably making back-handed comments as we speak. Fact is, these days, it’s the Spanish speakers we need to look to rather than the French. Comolli just isn’t as persuasive as Wenger, but who needs the French when they speak Spanish in South America and sort of Spanish in Brazil? [...]
