Kameni all but captured and all too modest Belgian side
Very interesting words from Bilic indeed. Clearly the opinions of a Hammer and Ali, dead on about the peeled dogs bollocks that was exactly the way it felt. Not that I go feeling dogs bollocks much, unless I’ve peeled them firs of course. My red bits were so swollen that I could feel the wind colling strange normally protected parts of my eyes as I walked about. Quite disturbing stuff.
As for matters of the ball (not dogs), I suppose the big news is that it looks like we’ve settled on Espanyol keeper Carlos Kameni, which is useful as I was badly falling behind on my profiling of all the other goalies we’d been linked with. According to all manner of peeps, we’ve successfully fought off Valencia, Villa, Athletico Madrid and ‘Boro - hopefully with big sticks - for the 24-year-old’s signature.
Good news I suppose but I was starting to warm to the idea of Gomes, character that he is. I’m sure we’d all have enjoyed his pre-match jumping routine and his shot stopping is very fine indeed. Perhaps we’ll be facing him again next season in an all too familiar shirt?
Nothing’s official you all understand but it seems a price for the Cameroonian’s been agreed. Of course that does leave the question of who’s to be our No.2? Are we really going to rely on the unknown Tommy Forecast, as good as his name is?
On smaller and only less exciting level if he’s another one of these wunderkids that never quite makes it, we’ve reached an agreement with the modestly named Standard Liege for their 16-year-old attacking midfielder Jose-Paul Mpoku (intriguing name).
Doesn’t sound that great, does it? But then throw into the mix that he’s Congon and we had to fight off United for the lad - hopefully with a big stick and army of thugs - and suddenly it feels a lot perkier.
I do enjoy these signings. They do bring such hope and promise. The only trouble is that they’re very difficult to find info on and, as I said, a lot of the time we never get to see them. By golly, I think I just found his head. Here it is…

…practicing for his photo shoot.
Other than that, all I can really tell you is that he’s 5′8″ - fairly meaningless given he’s only 16 - and currently 10.5 stone but I’m sure Juande can help him shed a few pounds. What’s also worth remembering is that these countries like Belgium and Holland are always favourites for African players to get their EU passports before disappearing off to better clubs as soon as their papers are stamped.
Lastly, in news where feelings are slightly murky, the Perfect Juan has told his mates that the Great One will not be one of our number when the Spurs go marching next season. The good part of it is that he expects Dimi to be off to Real or Barca; perhaps the the only two clubs we’d feel happy about him joining. He’d look good in their strips, netting hat-tricks against United, arsenal and Chelsea - well at least for next season until the Big Four is bust wide open.
Oh wait a minute, we’ve got a game tomorrow. I’m actually off for the weekend to a music festival on the South coast under the vague banner of work and the very definite one of a piss up. LB shall be attending the Bolton game in my absence, which is good luck for us as last time she went in my place we won. I’ll see if I can convince her to write a report. Expect comments on players legs and the language employed by the Jnr Harpy.
Good weekend everyone.
They took the bagel! The whole fucking bagel!
The Bagel.

Bagel, I am glad the stinging has stopped, at least until Sunday morning.
In goal, it looks like we have another back up at the ready. David Button our very own England Under-19 international was recalled to the Lane from his loan at Rochdale earlier this week.
I am feeling good about the Bolton match….Megson’s a muppet and the Wanderers and aimless: having no firepower since Analka left. So if Juande can get the back to at least stay awake and let Jamie O’ play further forward, we could see some nice attacking footie and win.
April 25th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
*Wanderers ARE aimless.
April 25th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
bagel… have a good weekend…
just remembered, do you have my season tickets?
April 25th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
Already taken care of Brenton. LB has the lot. I’ll give you her number. Don’t ever use it again though. I’m watching you.
Of course! Button’s pretty good from the one game I’ve seen, although it’s hard to judge when kids are shooting at you.
The Bagel.
April 25th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Cheers dude.
Don’t worry, i’ll ‘look after her’…
April 25th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
That fills me with dread.
The Bagel.
April 26th, 2008 at 5:19 am
I think the whole point is that Wanderers…well, they wander. And are therefore supposed to be aimless.
I wonder….
Going away now. Nice blog, anyway, even for a *cough* torquay united fan such as myself.
And you think you lot have stress
April 26th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
Oh well, my heart was blinded again by keeping the faith that we would actually win today, but my head was spot on with a draw, as no doubt most other level headed Spurs fans were
Readig next week, that won’t be a pushover & Liverpool on the last day… Oh Great, the scousers only managed a draw against brum today with fourth spot still up for grabs & the toffees hosting villa tomorrow
A couple of draws more parhaps, let’s put this season to bed to the singing of:
#We’re all going on a European tour, a European tour, a European tour#

We have captured the much wanted Luka Modric, and the summer is only starting.
It may turn out to be fun, this summer.
April 26th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
I thought Modric had higher ambitions than that.
He is now officially a cunt.
April 26th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Good stuff, a few more signings like this and we’ll really be intruding into Oi Oi’s superiority comfort zone.
April 27th, 2008 at 12:49 am
I bet Oi oi would want him at Arsenal…
He’s pretty damn good on FM as well… :]
I still uphold my theory that all good managers get their signings from Football Manager. I can imagine Gus in a darkened room hunched over a laptop scouring the virtual planet for quality signings.
April 27th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
So, according to the news of the screws:
http://blogs.notw.co.uk/sport/2008/04/spurs-250m-take.html
£250mil is the price…
Looks like we’ll have to stump up more than a fiver and some warm lager, boys and girls…
April 27th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
Even if it’s Carlsberg?
Export! :O
April 28th, 2008 at 3:08 am
So how is this Luka Modric guy? Seems like hot property… and Kameni sounds like a good buy. Does he still come with Thomas N’kono as his personal coach?
April 28th, 2008 at 11:46 am
So thats half the Berbatov money gone on MynameisLuka then.
The rest could involve a ’swap’ with Eto’o, hopefully, meaning Berba is off to Sunny Spain as opposed to another premiership club.
?
April 28th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Or getting a stiker on the cheap, with Gus Poyet’s Uruguay connections might be in the cards too.
Bruno (great name for a chant ) Fornaroli.

He looks like a creative finisher!

Why can’t John Motson commentate like that?
In fact, why can’t John Motson commentate?
April 28th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
I just can’t help getting exited about the summer and next season, typical Tottenham fans thinking I know.
but just imagine it…….a host of new superstars at the club, a great pre-season, an unbeaten start to the season, pinching 4th spot from the scum, ah….oh here we go again!
April 29th, 2008 at 10:51 am
I can’t get excited by the thougth of Berbatov leaving for another premiership club and we don’t replace him, leaving us with a Keane-ly Bent partnership that doesn’t work.
Until I see the signings, I’m not falling for that new-season optimism cobblers again - especially as this season is still going!
