Fair comment Beneven,

I should've put the thorn in Tottenham's side that is the interfering board top of the list really. I sincerely hope Ramos is the man to take us forward (to take us out of the bottom would do right now) I also hope that the board sticks with him, providing he sticks with us. I know I've ,entioned this before, but manure stuck with chewing gum face when they were far from the finished article & the arse didn't panic for a change at the helm when they've gone silverware-less

Maybe Levy's supposed plan to sell the club is not such a bad option, we may get someone from a foreign shore at the top, but we may well get someone who let's the manager get on with his job... You never know, stranger things have happened

Just read Levy's open letter, what a laugh--it smells of arrogance (among other things)...Ramos is a manager with much to offer, his record speaks for itself. However, I should have thought the same would be true in Jol's case. He is, after all, the man largely responsible for our recent European appearences, for our departure from the middle-of-the-table duldrums (though at the moment it would be nice to be even there). The post above raises a legitimate question about Ramos' long term interest in the club, but it is worth pointing out that we have had 8 managers since 1996. Thus it seems more likely that Ramos will be sacked or forced to resign (nuance, I know) before he can leave on purely his own will. Our board, our chairman, both have always tinkered--even before the gruesome twosome of Levy/Comolli. The elusive favor of the execs worries me more than Ramos' seemingly restless disposition.
BTW I absolutely love your blog and am happily putting a link to it on my blog the second I finish this post. Keep up the good work!:-)

I'm inclined to believe that Ramos is the man to take us further, but I'm very concerned of his managerial history, he's spent a year or even less at eight of the ten clubs he's managed, while 3 years at Reyo Vallecano & two years at Sevilla. Let's not forget his statement about his contract with Sevilla ends at the end of this season & he will remain as Sevilla manager until then.

Is Ramos is the man to take Spurs forward, his lack of longevity with clubs could mean Spurs will be shooting themselves in the foot & us, the fans will be tormented with another "oh so close but not quite on the mark" acheivement

I hope first & foremost that we now begin to get ourselves out of the quagmire we currently find ourselves in & move towards the end of the table that we should be in. I also hope that Ramos dispells my doubts & he is not only the right man for the job, but that he stays for his contract to be renewed & that Spurs enjoy a long awaited resurgence to Glory

Undoubtedly the Spurs board mistreat Jol. However, as soon as he was undermined when the board approached Ramos his days were numbered. From Jol's perspective, and for that matter the fans as well, that was completely disrespectful and meant his end. I am a spurs fan and I think Jol has done a tremendous job. He has taken spurs on in a way no manager has been capable for one hell of a long time. Despite that he does lack something. He makes some odd tackle choices. Its often said that the big four win games from the bench. Jol has never managed such a thing. On top of that the transfer policy has been awful. We have need a good left winger since Ginola and it never has materialised. Maybe this has been down to the gunner director of football perhaps... All of these little things make a big problem. Although it was done in the wrong manner, Jol was not going to be the man to take them to the next level. Hopefully Ramos will be. Learn English quickly mate!

Does anyone have any credence to add to the quote Berbatov was supposed to have made after the announcement of Martin jol leaving? It was something along the lines of "If you're going, I'm going too?

Circus/farce/ take your pick-but a deplorable way for a Board and company to operate. Martin Jol did not deserve all the off-the-field and behind back poisoning these last couple of months. Until the poltics in high places is sorted-or until the club is sold and most move on with their bulging bank balances will it ever be any different?
But the players have to show some spirit and fighting attitude.
Lets see what Sunday brings.

Disgraceful treatment of Jol and tough to swallow as a lifelong Spurs fan, as I am sure it was for many. You can't take anything away from what he achieved over the past couple of years.

Daniel Levy could do himself a favor and show a bit more humility. Sad to see Chris Hughton go as he has been a great servant to the club.

Fair enough it's not been a great start and if we continue to defend in the manner we have we'll have trouble beating Blackpool......I hope Ramos was worth all the trouble!

This should have been done so long ago out of respect for Jol. For all he has done for us, he deserved to leave with dignity. 3 months of rampant media rumors that virtually tore the fan base apart with the 'stay or go' dilemma is terrible for everyone involved. Shame on the board. They were too indecisive over the summer and through this first 1/4 of the season.

Looking forward (finally), I'd prefer Klinsman too. I don't feel like Ramos is the end of the world, but in the same breath, Ramos doesn't seem like the beginning of something great either.

Honesty time:

1) Really upset at the way Jol was treated - 5live knew, the fans knew, but Jol and co. found out after?? A disgrace.
2) So much for the new era of continuity and stability - the board are clearly pushing for a sale of the club - so say my 'sources'... but then, never trust a journalist...
3) If we get Ramos - well, I would be happy. Very happy.
4) There HAS to be a level of accountability among the players. Some 'performances' have been shocking. We are truly better off with a player who really plays (Defoe) rather than one who does when he wants to (insert names here)
5) It really must be a great fucking time to be an Arsen*l fan.
6) Will I ever get to see Kevin Prince-Boateng play?!
7) Sorry to Mrs TheYid who really did well as I listened to the radio, scoured the interweb AND watched Sky sports news for several hours last night...sorry darling. x
