The Yiddo Test
I’m starting to get a little despondent over the long term fitness of King Ledley. It turns out now that his leg op is going to see him out for the first four weeks of the season and judging on what I’ve seen and heard of Kaboul, he’s not ready yet. If we’re not careful, any serious challenge for the Champions League could be over before it’s begun. It’s lucky we happen to have the best strike force in the Premiership in whom I have the confidence to score as many as we may concede. Still, never fun to see our captain like this…

…checking out another grown man’s arse. Actually judging by the look on his face the other guy must have been touching cloth.
Suddenly the idea of going after Curtis Davies doesn’t seem like such a bad one but whatever the press says at the moment, it’s not us who’ll end up with the Baggies pariah. Fresh from his snatching of Martin Petrov, the murderer of English international football is looking to get his liver spotted hands on Davies and Kieron Dyer if he can manage it, as well.
Perhaps Eriksson is some sort of hypnotist because all of his old players and bosses support him no matter what. In fact no one in the sport will say a word against him. It seems the moment you look into his eyes and he utters the magic word ‘Well-a’ you’re under his spell for good.
It’ll be a combination of that and the flipping great wads of cash that City can throw at 28-year-old that will convince Kieron to call Manchester home after his ‘personal reasons’ in Newcastle. The mind boggles as to what these reasons may be given Dyer’s almost annual brush with the law be it an on pitch brawl, accusations of gang rape, being filmed urinated in public, allegations of indecent exposure or simply crashing his Ferrari into a bridge in the middle of Newcastle. Such a colourful character. To his credit, it was Lee Bowyer who he was trying to punch during that game against Villa.
His other possible destination is West Ham, as our inside investigator Toby the Yid has informed us, and I’d agree that he fits the profile; misguided, talented and very expensive to run but rumour has it he’d rather come to us - then didn’t Petrov say that too? That’s why we have invented ‘The Yiddo Test’. Everyone thinks that all these low wages we pay are about cutting costs. Not so. It is simply The Yiddo Test. A player tells us he wants to be a Spur more than anything else and we find out just how true that it by offering him half as much cash as any other team. If they still want to sign, they’re Lillywhite through and through and are made of the stuff to take us on to glory. The fact that it saves us millions each year is merely incidental.
I know all us lot agree that Dyer is surplus to requirements but I’d sooner have him on the bench than Danny Murphy and Hossam Ghlay. With Taarabt and JJ we’re looking good behind the strikers but he could cover Little Aaron on the wing quite nicely.
I am Jack’s raging bagel.

You’re either a sad & bitter gooon-er, or you’re so deeply a bi-polar manic depressive you will be found hanging from one of the spikes of the mellenium dome or with your head in the oven trying to gas yourself before you realise that you’re all electric, by which time you are in such deep despair you finally turn to the pills, overdosing big time in your last ditch attempt to put yourself out of your misery, only this time you find that the pills aren’t pain killers but extra strong laxitives. You end you days, shuffling off this mortal coil, shitting you blood, sweat, tears & what there is of you brains out of your sphinctre

Hi Bagel
The S G Erikson catch phrase “Well-a” is infact the shortest Swedish equivelant of “Look in to my eyes, look in to my eyes, not around the eyes, look in to my eyes, three, two, one, you’re under”
July 27th, 2007 at 11:02 pm
oi Yid of the norf

I retract the statement made earlier, I can think of nothing worse than insinuating a Yid being a gooon-er, so I hope to bump in to you sometime to buy you a pint to make it up, no hard feelings I hope
I now know where you’re coming from, the arse have for all too long pipped us here & there, but with my son (Mini-Yid) I just have to believe, we were so close two seasons ago, last season we showed consistancy after so many games played, we have assembled a good squad that IS surely capable of taking the big step forward
Mini-Yid & I are really looking forward to the forthcoming season. Besides, we must either win silverware or qualify for Champions League to stand a chance of keeping hold of my beloved eldest son Dimitar

YotN, you’re a good man for showing restraint and a level head. As for the scorcese glass-half-empty midget, yes, pessimism is an easy fix. I remember crawling from my sjw council flat on a sunday in february to watch (at the high-street ladbrokes no less) the beloved get embarassed by man u at the lane. At that point in the campaign, I really thought things couldn’t get worse. But, then there was that Fulham-double-Keane-double-Berba FA match at the cottage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xg4ofvIDvTg) that reminded you why you’d be an idiot not to support this club. Then, the Europe run. Good Times. Trysts with dumb american students during Good Times. Hopefully more Good Times.
Bagel, you do a good job.

Actually YotN,
You may have been more accurate with your first statement about joe pessi, although yours and ElCave’s positive attitudes and gentlemanly behaviour remind of why I enjoy our community so much.
Bipolar was an interesting word to use, wouldn’t you say Joe Pessi or johnny bash or whatever you’d like to call yourself?

Bagel & El Caveman
You are both gentleman & scholars, I appreciate both your comments, I take it that you may know this geezer a lot better than I do.
Wilson, yes first bit of silverware for the cabinet, courtesy of the Vodacom challenge. Being my usual, optamistic self, I’m seeing this as a good omen for the forthcoming season that I am all too excited about

Good points here, I also tend to doubt Ledley’s ability to stay fit, and still think we need to secure Davies as extra backup. I’m actually liking Kaboul’s progress myself, but he definately ain’t ready for the big show yet by no fault of his own, just a massive rise in tempo of the game.

i dont think king ledley will ever be the same player now that he has got these injuries!!! damm!! typical!!
July 29th, 2007 at 3:53 pm
Hi all!
The Evening Standard on Friday revealed that, according to some poll or other, Tottenham fans are the most optimistic about next season. Which is bad, bad news…
Meanwhile, the scum, in the last few years have lost vieira, bergkamp, henry, campbell, pires, henry and no ljunberg, and replaced them with… fabregas.

Nice post. We’re nowhere near as good without Ledders, it’s terrible. But, with the strikers we have, we should hopefully be fine. I actually think it’s the midfield who are most to blame for the amount of goals we concede anyway as if they didn’t give the ball away so often when we’re trying to secure a lead then maybe our defence wouldn’t be under so much pressure. Also, Robbo hasn’t been the keeper he was after the England incident.
But, thats what makes Spurs a great club to support… The end to end action that keeps you on the edge of your seat every game. Nevertheless, it would be nice to get another quality midfielder to sort them out, and maybe some better cover for King, although we’ll never be able to replace him.
The players all have something to prove this year, especially with our captain out yet again and most places in the team still not secured 100%. If we can learn from our mistakes last season and get through these first 4 weeks with Champions League form, then I think we’ve got a real good chance of fulfilling the potential we’ve had for a long time.

Kaboul is going to prove all the doubters wrong this season. As will Darren Bent. Not too sure on Bale/Taarabt/Rose I think it will still be atleast a season before we start to see them putting in consistantly solid performances for us.
Nevertheless, COYS!!! Bring on the new season!

there you go again ” oh this french bloke will be shit ooohhh” aaaarrrrggggg!!!!

I’m sure you’re a nice bloke, but you do seem to always find a negative, whereas I always try to find a positive… You don’t know my brother, Yid of the West, do you? his outlook on Spurs can be very much like yours! I’m not taking the piss, I can see you’re a passionate yiddo
Wilson, I agree with you, Kaboul will come in to his own (which sounds disgustingly pervy, but you know what I really mean) I think Taarabt will continue his developement very nicely, Bent should shine but we’ll have to wait & see about Bale & Rose
Bring on the new season

If Tarrabt can distinguish a happy medium between passing and shooting he could become real deadly this season, especially in the CC and Uefa… Does anybody know how Kaboul did last season in the french league?
