Fantasy Football - 493516-91718
Here it is, the beefbagel.com fantasy football league, 493516-91718 is the code you’re after. Here are the rules:
1. No players from the Big Four - I’m sick of having to have the likes of Fat Frank or Terry in my team and Ronaldo can kiss my arse after that dive last season, so no Big Four players.
2. Your squad must contain 3 Spurs players - as if it wouldn’t?
3. No ex-arsenal.
The most highest scoring team for each month will receive a bag of bagels. The winner of the whole shebang will receieve….two bags of bagels. If you live abroad I’ll find another prize a little more travel friendly.
The Bagel.

A bag of frozen bagels!
July 30th, 2007 at 10:27 pm
I’ve already got a team, and you can’t have two…Can I just enter my current team and I can be the one to beat? Underdog story and all that…
Hell I’l even exclude myself from recieving the ‘prize’ if I happen to win a month.
July 30th, 2007 at 11:02 pm
Mr Wilson you’re always welcome. I’ll work out your score based on the number ‘rule breaking’ players you have in your XI. I wouldn’t to exclude you from the prize.
The Bagel.

Cheers, Bagel. I was thinking of making a league for the good people of this blog if you didn’t get round to it (every other forum’s got one, after all) and I was actually gonna call it The Bageliga. Great minds…
Hang on, Top 4 - does that include Spurs?
July 31st, 2007 at 12:35 am
Good point. How did Dimitar the Great put it, ‘This Big Four that you have’?

Very sad news about Darkie. At least her and Bill can be together again.
Behind every great man……..
Thank you Darkie. Thank you Bill. RIP.
July 31st, 2007 at 12:41 pm
i would snap your ticket up in a second oog, but i can’t drive yet so i can’t get down there…
July 31st, 2007 at 2:27 pm
I look forward to what i imagine will be a tough battle - i have also refused to include any wet spam players (past or present), bonus points?
July 31st, 2007 at 2:58 pm
we could introduce a rule that players who score against tottenham lose points, just to make it even more confusing…
July 31st, 2007 at 5:27 pm
Excellent idea oog but far too hard to manage.
Ex-Spurs allowed, unless they happen to be ex-arsenal too.
Wilson - you can open an account with them under a different e-mail address and then chose a second team.
Just how does one get the name Darkie?
The Bagel.
July 31st, 2007 at 5:31 pm
Ooh right bagel, as it happens I have got a 2nd email address. I’l withdraw the team I’ve already entered.

Gentlemen, one & all
I’ve just that we’ve signed Kevin-Prince Boateng from Hertha Berlin, don’t know what sort of money we are looking at, but will the lad cut it in the Premiershop? Hope so!
My youngest son (Mini-Yid) has been harping on at me to join your fantasy league, however I’m not in the least bit clued up on this as I’ve never been interested in it before, until the Bagel launches his own (that sounds like a euphamism for some sort of sexual act or just a big, justifiably satisfying trip to the toilet!) can any of you guys offer an old duffer like Yid-of-the-Norf any pointers just to get me started? Afterall, I’m not to sure even how to get it all registered!
Boateng, an early impact on the forthcoming season or one for the future?

YOTN - Don’t buy anyone over 10 mil YET. Give yourself a balanced team with some depth on the bench. Think which players are likey to rise in price as other players buy them as the season goes on. That should help you out
On KPB - Get in!!
July 31st, 2007 at 6:44 pm
By other players I mean people playing the fantasy footie game.
July 31st, 2007 at 8:17 pm
Done -my team will hopefully ‘bring it on home’ to me!

Are you living around my neck of the woods? Or did you fly the bomber in World War Two!

Bagel. Team entered. Rather than post each month, my default order is a bag of plain bagels. Thanks in advance

Nice news about the Prince
August 1st, 2007 at 10:45 am
Can the winner at the end of the season spend an evening with Lady Bagel?
August 1st, 2007 at 10:58 am
No ex-Mighty Arsenal players ?
You might struggle to fill a team, I believe there are 23 ex-Mighty Arsenal players plying their trade in the premiership.
btw - rumour has it you paid £5m for boateng. hope he is worth it.
The Mighty Arsenal are looking good pre-season, how do you (honestly, if possible) feel you chances of top 6 are this year?
No more, “Watch us this season” quotes again, please, after 47 years, it’s become tiresome.
I reckon your lot should start from the back, with a cb that isn’t made of balsa wood and a keeper who actually moves, oh yeah, and stop be ManUre’s feeder club !!!!!

Boardroom in meltdown. Thierry Henry. Bunch of Frenchmen.

Well done bagel, shame you couldn’t find some dig about our on-pitch antics.
I agree about boardroom in meltdown, no hang on, thats rubbish.
£16.5m for a 30 yr old who didn’t play last season, that’s good business.
We’re running out of Frenchmen however, though I am surprised by your racist comments, you gonna pick on the players’ colours next ?
August 1st, 2007 at 2:14 pm
I think you’ve missed the point. Your comments are as tired as the ones I expressed.
I love the rivalry between our clubs, what I don’t love are people that are infantile about it.
The Bagel.

Perhaps a genuine conversation ?
I agree that your team has progresed, but I do think that without getting some stability in defense, and central midfield you are wasting your time with new strikers.
You would be better moving dafoe to left wing, lennon right wing, and alternate between berbatov / bent and keane (when he’s not sulking).
As for Robinson, he’s not as good as David James, but gets the England nod all the same, he has a tendency to react slowly to long shots, putting more pressure on a weakish defence (King aside), Lee is not good enough, Bale is too young, Chimbonda is ok, but needs to be more progressive in the opponents half.
You haven’t replaced Carrick, and without somne real strength in midfield, there is a chance you will get walked over by numbers in midfield.
From a realistic point of view, I suggest that, while going in the right direction, you haven’t strengthened in the areas necessary to maintain a season long title challenge.
A top 6 finish would be all you can expect, but remembering that beyond the last 2 seasons, that’s all you achieved, you should be happy to underline that before thinking about top 4.
August 1st, 2007 at 3:49 pm
Well - in the absence of a genuine conversation, I’m prepared to post a comment on a blog…
As it happens, I agree with hahaha that its defence and central midfield that we need to strengthen.
But I don’t get your comments about our strikers. You’d move Defoe to left wing? If you’d said Keane, then you might have had some kind of point, but Defoe? Seriously?
And does Keane sulk? Are you talking about on or off the pitch? On the pitch his body language is great (unlike a recent (admittedly pretty good) Arsenal striker) and he’s one of the few players in the premiership who play like they really love the game. Off the pitch I’ve no idea where you get that from - from when he wasn’t in the team at the start of last season?
And you’d alternate berbatov and bent, but always play keane? So, you wouldn’t play berbatov most of the time then?
I would suggest that your controversial view point that we haven’t strengthened enough to maintain a season long title challenge is on the mark. That makes two of us then… but despite our reputation, I don’t actually hear many Tottenham fans seriously making the claim that we are going to win the title this year. I would suggest that Wigan Athletic will be lucky to make the top 4 this year. I know its obvious - but I’m right!
Oh - and the criticisms of Robinson were valid when he was off form. But in the second half of last season I thought he was more or less back to being on top of his game. Which is very very good. Most premiership keepers are capable of being very very good, or of being a liability. Not least Lehmann.
That said… Bale is very young. And we missed Carrick last year.
Still, its nice to see ha ha ha pulling back from the standad gooner nonsense on a spurs website. I’m sure there are some yids over on their websites giving it all they’ve got too!

You a bloody star!
All your points put very well & all very valid, are you going to the Sunderland game? If so, I’d like to buy you a pint

August 1st, 2007 at 4:43 pm
Why thank you YotN. Flattery will get you nowhere. Flattery and a beer will though. Unfortunately, I couldn’t quite face getting up at 5:30 when I could get up at 12:44 and watch it in my newly sky-ed up lounge for a £150 cheaper all in! But I plan on getting up north for an away game or 2 at some point so perhaps you could buy me that pint then. You know - “the north” being such a small place and all…
August 1st, 2007 at 4:44 pm
Oog.
I meant alternating between Berbatov / Bent / Keane - as in pick 2 of the three.
Dafoe has played on the left before and his pace and trickery would suit attacking football, especially with both Bent and Berbatov, however, playing both him and lennon away from home might be too weak.
I have seen Keane a few times, and sometimes he lets his own head get to him, and he reacts with either pure brilliance or letting his head drop and running around aimlessly.
I imagine you could shock some of the top teams, but playing a season long campaign requires the strength and depth in defence and midfield that you just don’t have.
Btw - I hear from spires fans all the time about how they are gonna win this and that next year - even had one telling me that they would win the CL league this season (just after you were pipped to 4th).
Trying to be completely objective (and it’s really hard), I still say that Robinson’s reaction times are just too slow. For England, especially after the last 2 seasons, David James is a better choice (if someone teaches him to pay attention for 90 mins)

Just let me know when you’re up here, I plan to get to as many away games as possible, look forward to meeting you

Hahaha - You talk a lot, but say nothing.
For the record it has never crossed my mind that we will win the Title this year, and the same goes for your lot.
August 2nd, 2007 at 9:35 am
hahaha.
So he sulks by running around aimlessly?
Its true that sometimes he does seem to run around a lot - if you were going to call this ‘trying too hard’ rather than ’sulking’ then again, you might have a point. I seem to be making your points for you though…
Its really difficult to sulk AND try too hard.
Furthermore, I think we should declare an amnesty and allow you to just admit you’ve got it completely wrong about Defoe.
David James is a better choice (if someone teaches to pay attention for 90 minutes). You might as well say Robinson is a better choice (if his reaction times got faster) or Buffon is a better choice (if someone makes him a bit more English). Point is, you work with what you’ve got. Right now, there’s no one better than Robinson for the national team.
I don’t care though - I’m Scottish and for once we’ve actually got a properly class goalkeeper. I’d rather see James in an England shirt too. Or bring back Seaman. Or even better, its Bobby Mimms time.
Mimmmmmmmms.
As for Spurs fans with unrealistic aspirations… every team has its share of those. Every team has its share of fans who don’t know much about football. I mean - I remember speaking to a guy on an internet blog once who thought that Defoe would be a good option for left midfield and that Keane sulked by trying too hard.
August 2nd, 2007 at 2:03 pm
Oog wins - 2nd round KO, retaining his crown as inter(net)national debate champion.
August 3rd, 2007 at 5:26 pm
Disagree about no better keeper for the English team - Carlo Cudaccini.
August 3rd, 2007 at 5:43 pm
so do you accept my other points?
maybe if i) Cudicini actually wanted to play for England ii) you wanted to make an absolute mockery of international football and iii) he ever played any games these days. But mainly point ii)
