The Bagel’s Xmas Message
It has been a good year for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club; an annus yidarmyus.
The end of the the 2005/06 season saw us reach our highest finish ever in the Premiership, with the bravest of runs ending in a hard fought defeat worthy of those who battled at the Somme. We have seen our team grow and begin to take shape into a new force, a force to be reckoned with, not only across our great land but now through Europe too. Our 100% success in the UEFA Cup competition so far and our impending dominance within the further rounds, will see to it that once more they shall know our name in La Liga, Serie A, The Bundesleiga, Eredivisie and that other giant the Belgian Jupiler League.
White Hart Lane has become our fortress, strong and true. The quality of football has mutliplied by ten fold and even the Junior Harpy is beginning to grow on me but only a little. The bagel wagon in the East Stand has gone from strength to strength and very often does not run out of Capri Sun Orange or ‘juice’ as they like to call it, probably in reference to the fact that this electric coloured drink, packed with more e’s than Sean Ryder, is in fact the healthiest thing one can purchase at the Lane.
Gone are the days when there is nothing left to play for by February and one predicts at least a top 6 finish this season as well as the chance of some worthy silverware.
Our squad looks healthy, rich and strong as if they’ve been on a diet of Winalot Prime and since the eviction of embarrassments, Goran Bunjevcevic and the sage and onion stuffed Christmas Turkey himself, Andy Reid, there are no longer any truly frightening players to field. Indeed, we have found two new favourites this year. One in the shape of a tall sleek Bulgarian, with smoother control than a leather seated Lexus and the other in the shape of the entire range of the Himalayas. Indeed, he is now the second man made object visible from space.
It has been our pleasure to have ridden the highs more often than the lows, to have seen more goals we have celebrated than those we have not and one bursts with pride as one feels a lump the size of a large peeled onion choke one’s throat with tears, at the recollection of our truly Historic Victory over those Londoners from the west side of town. We once again hold our heads up high and our hearts like proud cannons, shooting from our chests.
But most of all this year, it has been The Bagel’s honour and privilege to bring it all to you. It is now and will always be my pleasure, to play host such a fine, fine group of Spurs. God bagel us all, everyone one of us.
Have a Merry Bagel and a Beefy New Year.
The Bagel.
