We’re one left wing option down. NAC Breda’s Brazilian ball basher is no more. Leonardo now belongs to Ajax. It was always going to be a tricky one what with work permits, passports and who knows, probably even an allergy to London to contend with but hey, that’s the way the bagel crumbles but…
Good News
…we’ve got ourselves a fresh new rumour and that’s that a 19 year old right back may be heading our way as a late xmas present. Thanks to a little memory jog from Adz, it’s The Bagel’s pleasure to bring you all I can find out about a lad, who is tipped to be one of the hottest young properties in his country. Anthony Vanden Borre, was born of DR Congo (that’s a country, not a profession and surname), plays for Anderlecht and represents the Belgian national team. Here’s his head…

…as Damien Duff checks if indeed ‘The one who denied it supplied it.’
He’s around 6 feet tall and weighs a whopping 80kg, about 12.5 stone, putting him more in the Chimbondabonda mould than that of Benoit Who. …which of our full backs have scored this season and how many can finish as well as that? The Bagel is impressed. Small wonder he’s been turning eyes over at Real Betis, Bayern Munich and some of the Euro giants. Vanden ‘Borre’? They must be kidding.
I’m typing this on return from our Carling Cup Quarter. I’ve no time tomorrow for a detailed report but I’ll tell you this. It was far too cold to be sitting out there for ninety minutes plus extra time. Not one moment of that game was enjoyable except perhaps my half time Bovril. When you’re expected to win the game, you can only avoid defeat. A victory is not possible.

Well true but ‘Bonders is 27 years old and Stalteri 29. We’re going to need some young blood some time and this kid looks special. Frankly, he looks like you could play him almost anywhere.

Glad I brought him up now! Some very nice moves on this lad - bit of a dodgy celebration for that last goal though……
