That’s what I thought you said

It’s all eyes on tomorrow’s game at Ewood Park and all about our temperament. MJ wants strength and discipline as well as our squad’s obvious footballing ability and really, when it boils down to it, we’re talking about a determination to win and if you want to finish high up in the table, you’ve got to play like we did against Chelsea. You have to want it with all your heart and every player must be prepared to run themselves into the ground with only one mantra running about their minds, ‘Win, win, win.’

Sounds a little heavy I know but that’s the difference between the good and the great. If you broke open Roy Keane’s head and I’d ask very nicely before you try anything like that, once you’d dusted aside what remains of his brain along with the implanted circuitry that leads to a remote panel inside Ferguson’s coat pocket, featuring the settings ‘Kill’ ‘Dismember’ ‘Mass Murder’ & ‘Super Keane’, once you’d done that you’d see a very small language area left in his grey matter and it would have a tiny little impulse firing round and round just about capable of three words ‘win’ ‘win’ and ‘win’ and probably ‘kill’ too.

Have a look at this…

…as well as it just being a bit of a treat on a Saturday morning, it’s the quote at the end that’s germane to this discussion.

‘I play every match as if it is my last.’

Short of Roy Keane’s psychosis, Zizou’s passion would definitely see our boys through and if they can find any of his ability too, well, then we’re set.

The Bagel may be wrong though. I may have in fact discovered the true reason why we may lack that killer instinct. It could be a lack of focus and indeed a problem of the sexual nature. And I quote MJ…

“Our away form could be the difference between getting into Europe or not. If we struggle to get away points we will not be up there.

“Normally we talk about things and go through videos on a Sunday or Monday. This week was different because of the international games and I had to wait.”

Hang on. They do what?

“Normally we talk about things and go through videos on a Sunday or Monday.”

That’s what I thought you said. Videos? What kind of videos? Look, I know some of them are young and probably don’t have much time for girls and yes, I can see how they may have missed out on sex education but come on Martin, you can’t go showing them the Dutch porn on a weekly basis at the expense of actual football training. I respect this humane touch and penchant for flesh flicks and I could’ve just about coped with this bizarre European coaching method but I realised he was just taking it too far when I read this on Spurs Mad

“Will Didier Zokora and Tom Huddlestone play in the centre of midfield at Blackburn? Or will Zokora be relegated to the bench after Martin Jol pulled the Ivorian off at Reading?”

…he did what?

“Martin Jol pulled the Ivorian off at Reading?”

That’s what I thought it said. I didn’t see that on Match of the Day. That’s…well…that’s just taking one’s responsibility as a manager too far. Firstly, he shouldn’t be indulging any player’s needs in this manner and secondly, it looks like favouritism. This sort of behaviour must be nipped in the bud.

So, now that we’re minus JJ and probably Little Aaron, now that Tainio’s fit, what can we expect to see tomorrow? Well, personally I’d like to see a Bagel XI of:

Robbo, Safety First, Ledders, Benoit Who, Lee, Didier Zee & The Man Mountain in the middle with Boutros Boutros on the right, Steeeeeeed on the left and Keano and Berbatov up front

but I’m reckoning MJ will go for a steelier:

Robbo, Safety First, Ledders, Benoit Who, Lee, Man Mountain & …actually I don’t know. I think we’ll be seeing Murphy rather than Steeeeeeed and I’ve got a feeling Davids and or Tainio will be featuring and he may well play three defensive minded players in the middle along with one other in order to bully Tugay out of the game but hmmm…not really sure what he’ll do.
All in all should be tactically very interesting. Enjoy the game.

Blackburn bagels.

The Bagel.
