Oh Paul.

The Bagel watched the game last night with the detached curiosity of a Greek god over his mortal playthings; their actions of interest, the result entirely inconsequential, merely sport. I was intrigued by the 3-5-2. I was entertained by the more genuine wing play and I was unmoved after 61 minutes when England went one goal down but my heart sank, my blood ran cold and yes, The Bagel blushed when Paul Robinson swiped thin air as the match ball hopped over his boot and into the goal once more.

This kind of thing does not exactly help a player, particularly one who is not on the best form of his life. Now I trust that Robbo is a big enough man (no fat joke intended) to take it on the chin and not let it get to him but I’m not particularly looking forward to other fans giving him the old ‘Dodgey Keeper’ and ‘wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooBullShit Ahhhh!!!!!’ or whatever it actually is. Actually, what is it? Bullshit Ahhh, Bullshitter or You’re Shit Ahhhh!? Anyone know?

Well, whatever it is, expect a little domestic derision for a few weeks until our man comes good with a few more of those match winning performances. Perhaps this is what he needs to make him buckle down (fat joke intended) and get it back together and what better place to start than at Villa Park on Saturday? Sorensen may or may not be playing, depending upon what you read but Luke Moore is certain to miss out unless he’s going to play with his shoulder in traction. It looks likely that Milan Baros will start instead up front with Juan Pablo Guy Smiley, so let’s hope that partnership is as fruitful as it was last season.

Juan Pablo

Is it just me? I think it’s something to do with the flip top head. Oh, have a read of this. Good idea and a nice little article:

http://www.villatalk.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=3397

The only other thing as strange as the look on the faces of these two men, well a man and Jim Henson puppet anyway, is the news that the Icelandic FA chief and UEFA executive, Eggert Magnusson, is attempting to highjack the take over of West Ham. Not sure if people in these kind of football governing positions should be allowed to own clubs personally but it would take some fairly blatant cheating on his part to bring any European success to the Irons. The odd part of all this is that Eggert or Eggy to his friends, a nick-name awarded for his infamous bottom burps, is a self-confessed Spurs fan with non other than Jimmy Greaves as his favourite all time player.

Should Eggy manage to buy our feeder club, all West Ham fans will sleep scared at night, thumbs in Cockney mouths, clutching onto their little soft toy hammers in the fear that they are owned by a Spurs fan but what’s more hopeful is that Pardew and what they’ve worked so hard to build, will be torn apart like a piece of meat as another lion enters the den to fight for the prize. It’s a bit cruel really but hey, it’s West Ham, who cares?

Iron, Lion, Bagel.

The Bagel.

That said.. ‘Misses Robinson’ is one of the better headlines i’ve seen in the Sun for a while.

  2. The Bagel Says:

Yeah, I nearly pinched it. Was trying to work on some sort Robinson’s Special R or Barely Water on Robinson Crusoe but…no good.

  3. Greedo Says:

    How about:

    “Danger sill(y) Robinson”

.. you know.. like from ‘Lost in Space’:

‘Danger Will Robinson!’ .. but ’sill(y)’ instead of ‘will’.

    .. yeah?

    no?

    okay.

  4. The Bagel Says:

    Danger fell Robinson?
