On our backs

Defending is a largely a confidence issue. Bonders, Lee, Safety First and even Baby Face are all good enough at their jobs to keep clean sheets. They have all been a part of successful back lines, whether at Spurs - together or apart - or at other clubs. When conditions are right, when belief is firm, all of theses players can do the job. So, what is going wrong right now?

Spurs vs Birmingham - Daylight Robbery

The omens were there all along: a new manager’s first game, a morning spent in a leisure centre all too close to the New Library and a pair of “lucky” pants that should’ve been binned a long time ago. It was so obvious. What a fool I have been.

So caught up, was I, in showing off to LB, flexing my manly sporting ability on the squash court - as only a true amateur can - that I took no time to consider the incredible bad fortune I was heaping upon my team. Smiling away, unthinking as I gently tortured my girlfriend by making her run from corner to corner, within site of the Effemirates, I wasn’t just laughing in the face of fate, I was slapping it playfully about the cheeks, sticking my fingers up its nose and giving it a good smacker square on the lips.
