Fantasy Football - 493516-91718

Monday, July 30th, 2007

Here it is, the beefbagel.com fantasy football league, 493516-91718 is the code you’re after. Here are the rules:

1. No players from the Big Four - I’m sick of having to have the likes of Fat Frank or Terry in my team and Ronaldo can kiss my arse after that dive last season, so no Big Four players.

2. Your squad must contain 3 Spurs players - as if it wouldn’t?

3. No ex-arsenal.

The most highest scoring team for each month will receive a bag of bagels. The winner of the whole shebang will receieve….two bags of bagels. If you live abroad I’ll find another prize a little more travel friendly.

The Bagel.

Success in SA

Monday, July 30th, 2007

Thanks to them at Premium TV, who I must say were very good to me despite some teething problems with Spurs TV, I was able to watch MJ and his men pick up the Vodacom Challenge trophy from the comfort of my own home. Actually, huddled over a dusty lap-top on an unforgiving wooden chair is not exactly how I like to watch my football but perhaps that had more to do with the quality of what was on offer.

The first 20 minutes was a stunner with 3 great goals, a fine looking Darren Bent and a rather sorry South African outfit and I’m not referring to those shirt and trouser combos that Mandela likes to wear. To say we switched off is a bit of an understatement, so count yourself lucky if all that you see are these highlights…

The Yiddo Test

Friday, July 27th, 2007

I’m starting to get a little despondent over the long term fitness of King Ledley. It turns out now that his leg op is going to see him out for the first four weeks of the season and judging on what I’ve seen and heard of Kaboul, he’s not ready yet. If we’re not careful, any serious challenge for the Champions League could be over before it’s begun. It’s lucky we happen to have the best strike force in the Premiership in whom I have the confidence to score as many as we may concede. Still, never fun to see our captain like this…

Injuries already

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

To begin with, The Bagel wasn’t too upset by the news of Younes Kaboul’s welcome to the Tottenham team. Facial injuries are usually a good thing for centre halves. Whoever saw a pretty one? In fact, I’m sure that physical attractiveness is inversely proportional to success as a central defender. Let’s take a look at some of the Premiership’s best…

A day of ordeals

Friday, July 20th, 2007

It’s been a day of ordeals. It started with an early morning race across town from the minute my phone rang. It woke me from a beautiful slumber comforted by my thumb in my mouth, my cuddly Chirpy in the crook of my arm and a dream about high fiving Dimitar the Great after we combined for my fourth straight hat-trick of the season. Damn those Ikea delivery men.

The Big Blue stand off and Anne Widdecombe’s vagina

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Be afraid, be very afraid. So says Chelsea big cheese Peter Kenyon, who is reportedly refusing to sell us Little Shaun because then we’ll be too good. I’m not sure if we should feel flattered or frustrated? Are we really a Wrong-Phillips away from greatness? Does that mean another would (A)du? Let’s take a bagel’s eye view…

Feeling Blue

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

And there was I thinking that my bump back to earth would be cushioned by the news of signing or two as I arrived back home with a weighty backpack and heavier head. So, Prince Kevin has bad knees - not a good thing for a midfield dynamo if he can’t even move his legs. You want a player in that position to be the rock throughout the season not sit on the sidelines in the back row listening to R&B on his phone loud enough for everyone in the dugout to hear eying up Jermain Defoe’s jewellery or whatever it is that the self-styled ‘Ghetto Kid’ does with his spare time.

Kaboulshit or not?

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

Well, isn’t someone making the right noises,

“It is true there was contact with Lyon, but maybe Tottenham showed more desire to sign me.

Considering the clubs which were following me, Chelsea and Juventus, people are surprised by my decision, and they tell me I chose a smaller club but I believe it is a wise choice,”

so says Younes Kaboul. That’s a near perfect response that could only be improved by adding,

“And then I punched them in the face for disrespecting the Spurs.”
